A green Galicia countryside setting awaits for guests at Kampaoh Ría de Arousa Rural, tucked away in a nature reserve on the Barbanza peninsula. This peaceful park makes a fabulous spot for a relaxed rural break with your partner, friends or family. And a nice easy life awaits too, because this is a glamping site where the tents are all set up and furnished with beds, bed linen and towels, plus handy extras like electric sockets so you can charge your gadgets (because you’ll almost certainly want to take plenty of pics and share them with friends back home – and there’s a wifi connection on site to help with that). How might you spend your days here? Well, possibly heading to the nearby coast for walks in the Corrubedo Dunes Natural Park, a stroll through the fishing town of Ribeira or some time on the beach. Santiago de Compostela is less than an hour’s drive away as well, so very doable for a day trip. Or you could choose to stay on site for a while – there’s plenty here to keep you entertained on a lazy day, including a swimming pool, a kids’ pool, a playground and a trampoline, plus pony rides for the kids. Barbecues are allowed (and you’ll have a picnic table outside your tent for your outdoor meals) and there’s also a restaurant on site, with a terrace that overlooks the pool for easy swim supervision should you need it.

The coastline around here is packed with variety – your options for visits nearby include a hike to the Miradoiro da Curotiña viewpoint (10 minutes’ drive), a walk around the peninsula that’s home to the remains of Castro de Baroña (15 minutes) or a stroll through the fishing town of Ribeira (15 minutes), perhaps stopping at the fish market along the way. And all this is before you’ve even thought about any of the beaches. Places like Praia do Areal (10 minutes), Praia Cabio and Praia Espiñeirido (both 15 minutes) are all good choices for a day on the sand. Alternatively, you can take a nature-filled wander through the wetlands of Corrubedo Dunes Natural Park (15 minutes) to reach the amazing 20-metre shifting dune at its heart. For a different day out, make your way up to Santiago de Compostela (50 minutes) to visit the cathedral that attracts thousands of pilgrims each year, tour the various museums and wander through the historic plazas.
