Campsites near Blas Festival
Fancy a gourmet dinner cruise to the strain of bagpipes on Loch Ness, or a scenic train ride to a gig in Britain’s highest restaurant, 3,600 feet up Cairngorm?
The Blas Festival is a self-proclaimed celebration of the Highlands, with a programme of performances inspired by the geography, history and legend of this beautiful region. You'll find traditional and contemporary Gaelic and English song, music and poetry, including a 'band in residence' that plays a different venue every night with guest appearances from local musicians and singers.
There's a great fringe programme too: a 'travelling gallery' of sculpture, painting and carving; guided walks in some of the Highlands' most stunning landscapes; and the exciting Cadmanachd Cup Final (this traditional hockey-like game, known as 'shinty' in English, apparently predates Christianity!).
Whoop it up with the locals at one of the authentic ceilidhs taking place across the islands, or have a good old 'Highland hoolie' at the free festival club nights held in a converted farm building in Inverness.
Tickets for the live performances start at £9, with family discounts available.
