  • Eco-friendly site in Miltown Malbay, a hub of traditional music
  • A five-minute drive from Spanish Point and the Wild Atlantic Way
  • Fresh produce for sale on site from the organic smallholding
Ireland's known as the Emerald Isle, but this County Clare site is green in more ways than one… Eco Camping Glamping is a peaceful park three kilometres from seaside strolls along the wild west coast. Head to this off-grid, eco-conscious site to wake up to views of green fields, native trees and wildflower meadows. All the power here is supplied by renewable sources, including the handy charging points where you can juice up your gadgets. There's also an organic smallholding on site, meaning that the folk that run this place are well-placed to supply you with healthy goodies like free-range eggs and fresh salad. The surrounding landscape is pleasant and gentle indeed, but more dramatic views are just around the corner. Head to the coast (five minutes’ drive) to join the Wild Atlantic Way – highlights along this well-trodden trail include the Cliffs of Moher, Spanish Point and the lush Loop Head Peninsula. Eco Camping Glamping is close to Miltown Malbay – so close, in fact, that this town's food shops, bars and pubs can all be reached within a five-minute walk. This place is known as 'the home of traditional Irish music', so a toe-tapping pint or two at a local live music night should certainly be on the cards during your stay.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Nice spot, close to shops (open from 7am 7 days a week), short drive to the lovely beach, walking distance to town and playground. My 4 years old twins really enjoyed the time.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: A lovely, chilled out campsite that is easy walking distance to Miltown-Malbay. Very safe and our 7year old kid loved the freedom to run and cycle around and make new friends and check on all the animals. As close to wildcamping as you can get in a serviced campground, which was perfect for us.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: The location of the camp site, very close to town and walking distance to shops, but still have a great view out onto the fields and Mutton Island from our tent! The facilities were basic but suited our needs just fine, there was a good variety of pitches to set up in and there was a good atmosphere and energy around.

Disliked: Minor note, the particular pitch we got to set up in was not very level and had hard, rough grass.

Non-electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked: Location - very near town and shops. friendly to deal with.

Disliked: Shower and toilets - very archaic! In an old barn - broken floors, no tiling, very old fashioned. But clean. Very boggy site and very wet under foot.

Local attractions

This stretch of the Clare coast really does hit the ball out of the proverbial park. As it's the closest beach, you'll most likely want to kick things off at Spanish Point (five minutes' drive), a peaceful stretch of sand named after Armada ships that were shipwrecked nearby in 1588. There's also a beachfront golf club here (also five minutes), a nifty nine-holer with ace sea views. Onwards next to further-flung spots like White Strand beach (25 minutes), the Loop Head Peninsula (30 minutes) and the Cliffs of Moher (30 minutes), each and every one of which is full of natural loveliness. The latter spot is particularly impressive and one of the most visited locales in all of Ireland – with eight kilometres of dramatic coastal vistas, 20 species of nesting birds and UNESCO Global Geopark status, there's certainly a lot to reel fresh air-loving travellers in. There are a good few critters to be seen around site, but any tiddlers in your crew can be rewarded for/cajoled into behaving well with a trip to Willie Daly's Donkey Farm (20 minutes); Aillwee Caves (50 minutes) is also highly likely to capture kids' imaginations.
