  • Small semi-wild eco campsite in the Dorset countryside
  • Ringwood and Wimborne 15 minutes' drive; Poole half an hour
  • Peaceful meadow with mown pitches; small firepits provided
Innisfree Eco Camping is a small, semi-wild campsite surrounded by the gorgeous east Dorset countryside. Located close to the border with Hampshire and roughly a quarter of an hour's drive from the New Forest National Park, this laidback spot has a handful of gorgeous mown pitches amid the wildlife and far-reaching country views. Innisfree Eco Camping aims to minimise its impact on the local and global environment, so expect to find a composting toilet, lots of long grass and good recycling facilities here. There aren't flashy facilities on offer, just well-maintained basics like a fresh water supply and a washing-up area. Campfires (subject to the weather and ground conditions) and barbecues are allowed off the ground, with small firepits provided and bricks available for guests cooking on disposable barbecues. The site is set on the edge of the village of Mannington and is under a mile from the nearest pub. There's a wide selection of walks and bike rides accessible straight from the site gates or just down the road, as well as family-friendly days out at Moors Valley Country Park just five minutes' drive from base.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked: Super friendly and attentive host. Able to have bbqs and camp fires here. It is a simple set up as it is an eco site but it was exactly what we wanted to get back to nature.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked: Great space. Mostly long grass site, not too manicured. Fire pits available to borrow free of charge. Convenient location, not very far from a major road but felt very remote when at the site. I don't think I made more than 2/3 turns from the M3. The host was very welcoming friendly and accommodating. Another group had a tent failure and he lent them a tarpaulin in the middle of the night, just a genuinely nice person. We had a cloudless night and the sky was decently dark to see lots of stars. I'd definitely stay again in the future.

Disliked: The composting toilet won't be for everyone, it's rustic but that was part of the charm for me. No flushing toilets or shower blocks or WiFi. If that's your thing this won't be for you.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked: I loved how close it was to wild camping without having the risk of being caught and moved on. I also really liked how easy it was to ‘check in.’ Someone was there to meet me as I pulled up in the car park and they were very friendly and helpful.
