Liked: This site was beautiful, really quiet and we were made to feel very welcome straight away. Toilets and hot water was were really handy and we were in easy distance of a local shop and pubs. We went biking when we were there and the local area for riding is amazing. Richard from the sports club even let us use a football so our little boy could play on the football pitch. It’s a quiet location, we were the only ones here but all the more special for it. We will be back, thanks for letting us spend a lovely weekend here.
Disliked: Nothing all was great

Liked: Good stop over for one or two nights. Clean toilets inside the clubhouse. A warm greeting, very peaceful setting, dark at night and you just hear the owls. Safe, cctv operation and they come back and lock the gate at night. The Royal Oak is a 10 minute walk down the hill into the village, very good pub food value for money or there is a permanent burger van on the industrial site adjacent to the camp ground just off the main road. Campers - embrace the entrepreneurship of this village sports club and give them a go.
Disliked: Nothing, we read the description and knew what we were getting for the money!

Liked: Quiet location, handy for the local pub. Clean facilities
Disliked: Nothing, needs to be viewed as what it is. It’s a local football club raising funds by allowing camping in the grounds.

Liked: This is exactly how it is described, a level area between the 2 pitches. We were not disappointed the views are amazing and the staff we dealt with were very friendly and welcoming. There was footbal practice the evening we were there but that did not impeed on us at all. I have read the negative reviews and to be honest they are rather petty. This is run by a village charitable organisation thinking outside the box to raise money.
Disliked: nothing

Liked: Nothing
Disliked: So called pitch in middle of two football pitches. Party in club House 100 yards from "pitch". Football match on Sunday. A joke. Not suitable for caravans.

From the manager: These adverse comments are disputed vigorously and are unfair and harmful to our reputation and business . It should be URGENTLY reviewed, removed and an apology given for the hurt and damage caused. We are not the derogatory "joke" expressed in this review. We are what we say "on the tin" and there should be no issue about the facilities as these are well set out with pictures in the site information. There were and are no "surprises" It is not correct to to state that the pitch facilities are only 100m x 20m. This is a 7 acre site and the only restriction is not allowing camping pitches on the main pitch. A simple Google maps search to DT11 0JA will assist. During the 'meet and greet ' session the range of possible options are explained and in this case it was agreed that the best spot was on the middle level in front of the Pavilion and close to the toilets but far enough away to have complete privacy. The welcome response of "Is this it then!!" and attitude indicated a negative couple were clearly irritated and have been prepared to go to such lengths to say so. The only positive aspect of this experience is that the 'mature couple' have also indicated no intention of returning. They will not be welcome as they have lacked Respect. The ETA for the booking was Friday at 5pm. The CCTV cameras show the caravan unit arriving at 1425 hrs, parking up well away from the pavilion and is then captured leaving the site not to return at 1453hrs. So this review is based on that timeframe. By way of additional information: 1. if what are described as the MATURE COUPLE had stayed for the 2 nights they had booked for, they would have observed from a distance the local Beavers group using the Pavilion for about 90min from 1830hrs on the Friday. 2. On Saturday from between 1830hrs and 2115 hrs they would have seen the Pavilion (only) being used for a surprise 60th Birthday party. THERE WAS NO FOOTBALL MATCH AT THE GROUNDS on either the Saturday or Sunday. If there had have been a match on the Sunday the KO would have been 3pm, well after the booking period 3. The 2nd pitch-up booking, this time for a tent, arrived on the Saturday and because of the prevailing wind and rain were positioned on the lower football pitch with protection from the bank. During the evening as the weather conditions worsened we kept in contact via text with a view to allowing them to seek shelter in the Pavilion. As it was, they were quite happy where they were. Very disappointed with the comments being made public that has causes offence and has the potential to harm the business of this small Charity.
