What say you to pitching up in a peaceful forest clearing? Primrose Park is a well-maintained site on the edge of the Forest of Bowland and close to the Yorkshire Dales, making this spot a particularly appealing base for those seeking back to basics hols filled with rural rambles. This fine little site is surrounded by green Lancashire lanes and gorgeous forest vistas – Gisburn Forest Hub (10 minutes' drive), a visitor centre with a café, mountain bike trails and waymarked walks, makes a great starting point for exploring both. You'll also likely want to plan a few trips across the Yorkshire border for outdoor jaunts around Malham or shopping trips in the market town of Skipton (both are about half an hour away). Families (including their canine members) are welcome at this friendly site; there's also an outdoor play area where the tiddlers can play and meet new pals in a safe environment. For sociable evening eats, you can light up a barbecue or firepit (off-ground only for both) get cooking with your clan; if the weather has other ideas, you can always bag yourself a table at the nearest pub, 10 minutes away. Facilities are fairly minimal on site, but you'll have access to two unisex toilet/shower blocks. Snacks and other supplies can be sorted with a quick stop at the small on-site shop. The closest supermarket is in Settle (20 minutes away by car), where there's also a range of eateries from fish and chips to fine dining and all things in between.

Non mi è piaciuto: *Very* family friendly site which meant children running round screaming constantly, had to ask them to stay away from our pitch twice.

Dal gestore: Thank you for your review. I’m sorry that you didn’t like children having fun at our site. The field has the play area in the centre so that families can keep an eye on their children whilst allowing them to play freely and safely. Maybe the Touring area or hardstanding area may have been more suitable for you, as most families go on the field. Should you choose to stay with us again, I would suggest you choose the Touring pitches, Woodland or Beck View as they are quieter areas.

Mi è piaciuto: A lovely field space to pitch in with a great area to play with good toys for the kids. Very much appreciated. The toilets and showers were clean and everything else was self explanatory in terms of washing up, bins and waste disposal. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed and told how the onsite shop worked in terms of getting hold of someone to open it. The only issue was that the fresh water had just sprung a leak (it affected the farmers house too) and it took a while to sort. However, they gave us a big bottle or water and kept checking in on us.

Non mi è piaciuto: It can be a little tricky to get hold of someone if you need something, but perserverence calling the numbers provided pays off.

I appreciate that it can be difficult to get hold of myself or Andrew sometimes due to other work commitments but Andrew is usually around the site somewhere and I will always get back to you as soon as I can.

Mi è piaciuto: This is our 3rd stay at Primrose park and has we had our small grandson and family with us we stayed on the field site. Site has basic clean amenities and a small shop. Owner is very welcoming and supplies fire pits and wood for a small charge. Loads of room for camping and spectacular views of the surrounding area.

Mi è piaciuto: Excellent friendly site, our first camping trip with our 3 year old daughter, 12 year old niece and 2 dogs and we definitely chose the best place. Everyone was friendly and extremely helpful. The site was clean and so peaceful. Lovely set up. We will defiantly be returning!

Mi è piaciuto: We had such a lovely stay and would highly feccommend!! The man that runs it, is lovely and so helpful. It has such a nice relax feel and the kids loved playing and going on adventures. Facilities were clean and looked after. Would highly recommend and will defiantly be going back over the summer. There’s a farm shop around 8 minutes drive or Skipton is 30 minutes drive away!

Mi è piaciuto: Very friendly reception from Andrew who was helpful throughout. We could choose our own pitch from the four areas of the site, a large field with lots of families enjoying the space, a woodland area, grass and hard standing area surrounded by trees and a hard standing area with the beck running below, something to suit everyone. There is a small shop, toilets, showers, water and Elsan facilities and the site had a relaxed, casual but well run feel to it. Lovely views towards Pendle Hill and plenty of footpaths for walking nearby.
