  • Back to basics site on a working farm one mile from the Monsal Trail
  • A 10-minute drive from Bakewell and Buxton; 20 minutes from Chatsworth
  • Walking trails direct from the site; nature reserve and pubs nearby
You may be whisking yourself off to the Peak District to cycle old railway lines or to go headfirst into historic halls and market towns. Whether it’s human history or the outdoors you have in mind, White Peak Camping is a peaceful patch to settle down, just one mile from the Monsal Trail, 10 minutes’ drive away from Bakewell and 20 minutes from Buxton and Chatsworth House. But, where to go from here first? Well, there is a mix of walking trails outside the site – you may want to take the track down to the old limestone quarries, biodiverse nature reserve and a Site of Special Scientific Interest 10 minutes’ walk away? Or perhaps to take half an hour’s walk to the Monsal Trail and hire out some wheels? There are Victorian lime kilns, Neolithic tombs and burial sites within walking distance of the site too and a short drive away, the High Peak Trail has another cycle hire. This is a family-run site in the national park and part of a scenic working farm, with comfortable basic amenities and some rather lovely views from the back of the farm. Dogs are welcome here, as long as they can behave around livestock, as there are cows, sheep and chicken residents. Handily, you'll be able to track down supplies in Bakewell. There are no shortages of places to eat here (or get your hands on some Bakewell pudding) but there are also a couple of pubs a short walk away from the site too.
