From the manager: Hi Kim, many thanks for the 10/10, you said you would do it for us. We are so glad you and and your son enjoyed a wild camp down by river building your own camp fire. Please spread the word to other off roaders 4x4 clubs. Cheers Mark

From the manager: Many thanks for your kind words, and so glad you enjoyed your stay at Gidleigh wood campsite. Sorry about the gradient for tent pitches only that we try to keep the flater areas for camper vans and motor homes. Hope to see you both again sometime soon. Cheers Mark

Liked: Ideal to reconnect with nature on the edge of open Dartmoor moorland. Excellent hosting and looking after by Mark and his wife, they made me feel like family/friends
Disliked: Not a dislike but a personal challenge to my simple mind, to work around the gently sloped field so I didn’t roll of inside the tent 😅😁

Liked: Lovely open space, dogs allowed to run off lead which was amazing for them. Mark really helpful with local information and able to walk straight onto dartmoor so no need to move the van. Toliet kept clean and shower even though only one there worked perfectly. Marks wife lit a amazing campfire each night and was lovely to go sit round and chat to others. Could have stayed last longer! Thankyou Mark for such a relaxed campsite

Liked: The facilities and welcome at this campsite were great. Composting toilets were clean and well put together as was the shower and there was a large shared forepit lit for the whole campground by the hosts. The hosts were welcoming and knowledgeable and the site is dog friendly. Nearby woods are a stones throw away and make for very good walking. Thank you for a great stay!
Disliked: The site is on a bit of a slope which can be annoying and you have to remember to bring your own drinking water - as stated in the site info.

Liked: A beautifully simple and uncomplicated campsite set in the woods. There is everything you need and nothing you don’t. The Geography locally will mean that bringing a large motorhome or caravan on site will present challenges but for a campsite that offers a real sense of remoteness and peace while not being utterly distant, this cannot be beaten. No wifi (perfect); no amenities (because you have Dartmoor); no baby change facilities (not the point of the campsite).
