  • Eco site in the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
  • Spotless amenities including wetroom showers and baths
  • Adults-only site with licensed shop selling local produce
Want to explore south Devon in any season? With scenic views of Salcombe and the countryside towards Dartmoor – but close to a busy market town with shops, restaurants, pubs and takeaways, which can be accessed via an inland footpath or a bus which stops at the entrance of your site? Take a trip to the traditional Parkland Caravan and Camping Site in the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a mile from the market town of Kingsbridge: this level, well-drained site in mature grounds is surrounded by natural hedgerows that are home to lots of wildlife to spy. Parkland has high standards all round, with heated and spotlessly clean hotel-style amenities including individual wetroom showers with basins and toilets and access to baths. Hot water is free to use and is heated by solar panels: Parkland is a green site with energy-saving lighting and has a strong recycling and waste disposal ethos. Other facilities on site include a dishwashing area and metered laundry room. For food, a pub is less than a mile away in Churchstow dishing up good cider and reasonably priced meals, with other eatery options in the nearby villages of Bantham and Thurlestone as well as Kingsbridge. If you’re getting the other half to cook for you, well done… and there's an on-site shop with fresh local produce and everyday essentials as well as local crafts, camping essentials and beach goods.

Fully-serviced grass and gravel pitch (XL, private bathroom amenities, deluxe)

Liked: The campsite was very clean and well kept, gardening/landscaping was fantastic. The amenities were modern, clean every day. We stayed on a deluxe pitch and it was well worth it, such a clever idea. The onsite shop was well stocked and really useful. All the staff we spoke to were friendly and helpful. Great location for exploring south Devon.

Fully-serviced grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: I liked everything about this site. The wooden fences and flower borders between each pitch made it so private and the bathrooms were individual which I personally found it to be much more to my liking as well as extremely clean. The shop was very well stocked, it had everything you needed, even more than my village shop where I live. The check in was easy and we were given clear instructions on facilities and shown to our pitch. I would recommend this site to stay for any of my friends and family

Disliked: Nothing

Fully-serviced grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: A great little site in a fantastic location, easy to find and we appreciated the calm and quiet. Good sized pitch for our VW California, loved the shop and the showers and WCs were super clean. Welcome was warm and felt like home for a couple of days. Highly recommended.

Disliked: Getting a bus on a Sunday into Salcombe proved difficult and the taxis were expensive - nothing to do with the site but plan carefully!

Fully-serviced grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: Brilliant shop with great prices! We tow a small car behind our motorhome, when we arrived the car battery was dead as a dodo. Amazingly, the shop sold a trickle charger for batteries - what are the chances? But the range of goods available and the 24/7 opening was perfect. Shower blocks were excellent. Not being a dog person ( I know, I’m a social pariah), I loved the no dogs policy too. Great location for the bus stop. Recommend the Crab Shell Inn at Kingsbridge - on the side of the river, lovely sunny spot I. The evening, good food and friendly people. Good location for Salcombe and surrounding areas.

Disliked: A v minor point. The motorhome empty point for waste water was on the near side side of the entrance and exit which was a little tight with a large MH -we needed extension pipes under the van to reach it because our waste outlet was on the far side and there’s not a lot of room to easily manoeuvre the MH but we managed.

Fully-serviced gravel touring pitch (large)

Liked: The facilities are amazing. All individual full bathrooms with shower and or a bath with own WC. Incredibly clean and modern. We loved the onsite shop which worked on an "honesty" bases (take what you want, write it in the book at pay when you leave). It was so well stocked with everything you could need. The pitches are a good size and the site is perfectly located. 25 minute bus ride from the site to Salcombe or Totness and only a 5 minute ride to Kingsbridge.

Honesty shop is a godsend open 24hrs and stocked with everything you need edible and otherwise at fair prices. Washing up facilities great, campers kitchen and laundry room also well thought out. Peaceful and friendly and so near all the sights and beaches of the South Hams……will definitely return and highly recommend. Local attractions

First up, Kingsbridge: the town is a mile away from Parkland, with two footpaths running from the park so you don't need to tramp the main roads. If you’re getting the bus, a stop is at the Parkland entrance; if you’re driving, there are several places to park including at the Quayside where there are markets, concerts and events throughout the year. Next, Salcombe, Devon’s most southerly town and accessible by bus from Kingsbridge. It's famed for its ice cream – try the rum and raisin – and you can also try boating and watersports from here, with tuition available for the uninitiated. Both Salcombe and Kingsbridge are in the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with two National Nature Reserves, heaps of walks and trails, and several towns and villages including Dartmouth and Bigbury-on-Sea – on the coast above the biggest sandy beach in south Devon and with access to the tiny Burgh Island where Hercule Poirot went after baddies. Closer to home for sand fans is Bantham, the closest beach to Parkland and a serene spot for surfing, wildlife spotting among the dunes or slathering on the suntan lotion.
