  • Spacious and comfortable site on the Hampshire/Dorset border
  • A 10-minute drive from beaches and 20 minutes from Bournemouth
  • Two miles from Bransgore village's pubs and food shops
Sitting in a green location between the New Forest National Park and the stunning south coast, Shoreline Escapes is a well-maintained site near Bransgore, close to the Dorset/Hampshire border. Located about two miles from the village centre, where there are pubs and food shops as well as other local amenities, this site is home to a small number of pitches for couples and families. The site is located in a rural setting, surrounded by country views and a laidback atmosphere. Well-kept portable toilet and shower facilities are available, and there's also a washing-up area for pots and pans. Shoreline Escapes welcomes well-behaved dogs (but please make sure they're kept under supervision and on leads at all times). Surrounded by so much countryside, you'll be treated to sounds like birdsong and smells like the fresh scent of forest air. There are lots of footpaths, bike trails and bridleways in the local area, especially in the New Forest, but with resorts like Bournemouth and Poole a few miles down the coast, it's equally tempting to treat yourself to a few days of just relaxing on the sand.

Local attractions

Starting locally, you might like to pay a visit to the pretty town of Christchurch (10 minutes' drive), where an impressive priory, weekly market, ruined castle and small marina on the river Stour all combine to make for a very pleasant day out. Just outside the town centre there are sandy spots like Avon or Southbourne beach, as well as an interesting nature reserve at Hengistbury Head. Shoreline Escapes is also a 20-minute drive from Lymington. Head here for ferries to the Isle of Wight (either as a foot passenger or bringing the car), birdwatching walks around historic salt pans, to visit up-market independent shops and boutiques or for a dip in the open-air seawater lido. If waterskiing or a floating obstacle course appeal, you might also like the New Forest Water Park (20 minutes from site). Other family-friendly days out include Bournemouth town centre (20 minutes) with its pier and arcades, Moors Valley Country Park (20 minutes) with Go Ape, bike hire and a narrow-gauge steam railway and the rides and slides at Paultons Park/Peppa Pig World (30 minutes), on the other side of the New Forest near Romsey.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked: Location was lovely and peaceful. Nice flat field. Lovely central play bails and slide. Brilliantly helpful owners: brought us extract tent pegs down when outa all got broken trying to get into the hard ground. Advice: take heavy duty tent pegs, the ground was like concrete after a period of dry weather.

Disliked: Portaloos were pretty gross to the point that we avoided them like the plague by pooping to Waitrose and Sainsbury. No more to say on the subject.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked: Nice camp site, basic but was comfortable and in a good area. Note: it’s self checking so you’ll have the phone the mobile a few times before you arrive to find out the gate code and your pitch number.

Disliked: A bit expensive for the facilities - porterloos and gas bottle powered showers, but they where clean and usable so would stay again.

Bell tent (four person)

Liked: Showers were lovely Beds were comfortable Peaceful Slide was great for the kids Toilets were clean Spacious tent Location to pub and beaches

Disliked: It was FREEZING at night, the duvets were not thick enough. Electric really is needed for a heater at night. My 1 year old woke absolutely ice cold both nights, I couldn’t put enough blankets over him to warm him up. No mugs in the tent but had alol other crockery/cutlery, so I didn’t pack any which was a shame as we needed a tea and coffee in the morning! Had to drive to Costa. It said there was tea and coffee in the morning but no mugs or kettle to boil water to actually make use of those facilities. Lock on gate was a bit annoying every time you leave but not the end of the world. Solar pack was not in our tent as mentioned, next door tent had 5! So borrowed one from their tent. Limited food cooking options, no fridge to store food for cooking on the bbq so you have to buy as you go which isn’t easy with two small children. Information pack was sparse, it should include where you can get food from, take aways that will deliver to the field etc. Tent needs a dustpan and brush for clearing up the grass/hay.

Bell tent (four person)

Liked: We stayed for one night with our daughter who is 13. We had a lovely time. The location is stunning - absolutely beautiful. There are things to do just a short drive, as well as shops and local pubs. The tents themselves are nice and fairly spacious and the beds are comfy. There is a BBQ outside for use, you just need to buy the charcoal. The toilets and showers are very clean. Our daughter loved the fact there were solar charged power banks for phones and other electrical devices - which was a lovely touch and a life saver if you have children with you! :) We will definitely return again.

Bell tent (three person)

Liked: The tent was comfortable and well thought out.

Disliked: Shower vs. Toilets- were at opposite ends to the site with little apparent benefit
