Set against a backdrop of mangrove-lined jungles and Caribbean beaches, Selina Red Frog is a bright, colourful and luxurious place to stay on Panama's gorgeous Bastimentos Island. Located about a kilometre from the inviting shores of Red Frog beach, this well-equipped location has plenty to keep you busy, including a movie room, communal kitchen, restaurant, outdoor pool and yoga lessons. Live music is often a feature too, creating an atmosphere that's in turn lively and chilled. Compared to other Bocas destinations, this spot is more low-key – if you're really looking to party, head across the water to Bocas del Toro (crossing time 10 minutes) for reggaeton, soca and other Afro-Caribbean rhythms. Listen out for monkeys calling through the forest as you tuck into breakfast while admiring the palm trees swaying in the breeze. Route directions

From Panama City, you can take a direct flight from Albrook Airport to Bocas del Toro with Air Panama. Head to Selina Isla Colón, located a few blocks away from the Bocas del Toro Airport, and take the Selina water taxi to Red Frog.

Local attractions

For treetop views close to Red Frog marina, walk a couple of kilometres over to Bastimentos Sky Zipline Canopy Tour for high-adrenaline trips through the canopy and fantastic vistas over the local area. Back at the marina, take the water taxi over to the town of Bocas del Toro Town (crossing time 10 minutes) to experience its food and drink scene or to board other boats out to undiscovered isles and the Panamanian mainland. Stick around in Bocas if you'd like to see Plastic Bottle Village (five kilometres from the port), an intriguing eco village made almost entirely out of recycled materials. Once back at base, you might like to turn your attention to Bastimentos Island itself, most of which is a well-preserved national park. Home to monkeys, sloths, caimans and tropical birds, plus rarer species like endangered sea turtles, this 13,000-hectare habitat has many excellent offshore diving and snorkelling opportunities. The coral-fringed coast around Cayo Zapatilla, a tiny uninhabited isle just off Bastimentos, makes a particularly excellent day trip if all you want to do is see fish and experience nature in all its diversity. Mention when booking that you're interested in heading here, as the Selina Red Frog team often run special excursions out to the area for guests.

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.
Unsupervised minors must have a letter of authorisation from their parents or legal guardian.

Arrivals and departures

No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Changes to your holiday

Bookings cannot be amended within 3 day(s) of arrival.

Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
