Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: The site itself was nice and quiet, would be more than happy to use the site again when we are back in the area.

Disliked: Unfortunately the road isn't and the railway is quite active, the worst thing was the weather (no can't blame anyone about that) persistently rained,

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: Greeted as we arrived. Lovely clean campsite, fab location and although next to the main road traffic noise was not a problem. Stream, ducks, geese, swing, hammock, fire circle.....little touches making the campsite stand out and delightful! 1 toilet and shower, all thoughtful thoughtful out with pegs, etc for female and men's. Slight wait for the toilet if someone is showering but did spot porter-loos on the back field so had we stayed a little longer would of used those. Night lighting around the site very enchanting. Loved the washing up was inside - great on a wet day! Access to washing machine too - bonus.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: Such a beautiful campsite and a warm and friendly greeting by the owners. There were fire pits and picnic tables available that we were invited to bring onto our pitch. Having read an earlier review we wondered what the toilet facilities were going to be like. It's true that there are only 2 loos but they were great. A whole toilet, basin and shower in each hut so well worth the wait. And actually it's a small site so there wasn't much of a wait. We just loved it.

Disliked: Nothing

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: Great location to visit the many National Trust sites located within a few miles of this small site. Friendly owners and very picturesque with a small stream forming part of the boundary, ducks and geese can be seen at the top of the site and are friendly and thankfully not noisy. Overall I liked this site and with the continual improvements planned over the course of the next few years I'm sure we'll be back.

Disliked: Amenities are sparce with only one toilet with a shared shower for men and another block for women. Road noise is a little heavy for light sleepers. £30 per week for electric hookup was steep.

Liked: Very friendly and welcoming, and very kind of Fred and Leslie to show the children the kittens and take them on the safari ride around the farm. We had a great week enjoying all the local beaches in wonderful weather.

Local attractions

Lyme Regis (25 minutes’ drive) may be a haven for fossil hunters – and those seeking to learn more about the old sea creatures that once populated the sea – but it’s also well-suited to watersports like windsurfing or visits to the marine aquarium. There are also guided fossil hunting walks in both Lyme Regis and Charmouth (20 minutes) for newbies to that sort of thing. For some simply splendid walks across the coast, sublime sea views and more possible fossils, head for Black Ven (25 minutes) and Stonebarrow Hill (25 minutes). Other scenic stretches and points of interest include Abbotsbury (40 minutes), where there’s a colony of nesting swans, and Seaton (35 minutes), a fishing town with a tramway and watersports options. Inland doesn’t disappoint either, especially for those who are looking for more outdoor activities. Tackle the Blackdown Hills AONB (35 minutes) on horseback, foot or bicycle and make your way to the Axe Valley Wildlife Park (25 minutes) to see animals like chipmunks, zebras and flamingos.
