  • Small site with touring pitches on a working family farm
  • In the village of Danby in the North York Moors National Park
  • Within walking distance of pubs, shops, cafés and a bakery
Congrave Farm Holidays is a seriously handy spot for exploring the North York Moors National Park. Its touring pitches are on a working family farm in the village of Danby in North Yorkshire, which is an excellent base for hiking the moors, visiting the coast and getting stuck into all manners of outdoor activities such as trail running, cycling and mountain biking. First of all, the small site is within walking distance of pubs, a bakery, shops, a kids’ playground and cafés. Secondly, it’s just a 15-minute walk from Danby station, which is on the Esk Valley Railway running from Whitby to Middlesbrough and stops at lots of stunning local spots including Grosmont (a 25-minute train) which has access to a steam railway to Pickering and Goathland. If you’re touring as a family, the site is also handily within half an hour’s walk of the Danby Lodge National Park Centre, which has an adventure playground, café and walking trails. This spot is an official Dark Sky Discovery Site; maybe you’ll spot the Milky Way if you get lucky. When you’re ready to be by the sea, check out your options, which include Runswick Bay (15 minutes), Sandsend (20 minutes) and Saltburn-by-the-Sea (25 minutes). You could sit down on a stunning beachfront or pack a picnic to sit on a moortop and take in the views.
