Liked: Great basic site. Visited last year and second time this year. It is a quiet site which is what I wanted, one compost loo and two taps. Located at base of Edgehill and perfectly positioned to many footpaths. Will be booking another visit soon.

Liked: Applecross Fields was perfect for us - we are self sufficient but like to be safely off road rather than "wild camping". Its in a beautiful area, lots of wildlife to see and hear. Nice flat area to park, basic clean compost toilet and water. Not for people that want the buzz and facilities of a massive campsite but 100% what we wanted. A quiet night away in our van in the beautiful countryside with a half hour walk to the pub. (Which was closed when we got there but it was a bank holiday so we should have called to check!) There was just one other van and caravan there so we had lots of space. We don't have dogs or children but it felt like somewhere that both could enjoy!

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Great site, Quiet with lots of room for the little one to play, Facilities while basic are to an excellent standard toilets were very clean and in the words of our 6 year old 'very fancy' Tom the site owner was very helpful and made recommendations on the local areas. Popped back in the morning to ensure we had a good stay. Thank you Tom. We will be returning Also the sunset here is really quite something

Local attractions

This is a brilliant base for explores in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Take off on tours of cracking Cotswold villages such as Bourton-on-the-Water (40 minutes’ drive) or stick closer to home with trips to the National Herb Centre and the Redwings Horse Sanctuary (10 minutes). Go north to Stratford-upon-Avon next for wanders around Shakespeare’s birthplace. The Swan Theatre, where the bard’s plays are performed, is here, as is his wife Anne Hathaway’s historical cottage. Already swotted up on the poet’s life and work? Rent a boat to bob up and down on the Avon River. For a trip to yet another top town, chuck Royal Leamington Spa (25 minutes) on the itinerary and roam around Regency buildings such as the colonnade-covered Royal Pump Rooms, formerly a 19th-century bathhouse and now the Leamington Spa Art Gallery and Museum.
