Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Goats and birds on site. Good amount of space even on a busy weekend. Handy shop, kitchen and bar

Disliked: Site was a bit boggy in places. The secondary toilets and washing up area didn’t all work (some lights gone and hot water not over the sinks)

From the manager: We had solid rain, and yet no one needed towing out, no mud, but yes the grass was wet. The hot water is for washing not rinsing (otherwise one camper can waste all the water for everyone). Fill your washing bowl with the hot water, right next to the sink. We’ll change the light bulb, thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Loved this site! Kids had a brilliant time. Shop and hot food was quality and well priced. The location is brilliant. Easy to walk to stuff. Goats , chicks, park and bouncy castle were brilliant for the kids. Very busy bank holiday but still a great stay. Staff were lovely and welcoming from arrival to leaving.facilities were clean and a good standard (until some people used them) We will be back

Disliked: Toilets : busy weekend and some people just must live like animals . So disrespectful to how they left them. Needed an extra clean Sunday night I’d say in such busy weekends. But it’s the other guests not the sites fault

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Welcoming, friendly staff, bouncy castle for kids which was not intrusive to the general peace of the field. Small shop. Clean facilities which never ran out of loo roll!

Disliked: Other people's loud dogs

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Good facilities. Lots of space to pitch tent. Quiet. Helpful staff. Kids enjoyed watching the trains go past.

Disliked: It was a wet weekend, and some areas became a bit muddy (e.g. around washing up facilities). A bit of extra gravel would solve this problem. It wouldn’t even have been noticed if it wasn’t wet!

16-amp electric grass pitch

Liked: Freedom the children had I thought it was amazing. They could run until light disappeared and free like the wind. It is such a lovely place for the children. The campsite was so lovely, tidy and clean. The goats and birds was outstanding to see. Bouncy castles were a great pick too. There was so many walks from the campsite and a small town nearby with a pub.

Disliked: Nothing I would definitely come again.

10-amp electric grass pitch

Liked: Relaxed atmosphere, able to have campfires, shop, keenly priced bar, goats, birds, groups welcomed. Helpful staff.

Disliked: We were asked to turn music off at 10.40 on the Saturday night. the music was very quiet, but no problem and we were asked very politely by owners. However on the Sunday night the group next to us had loud music and were singing up to midnight (it didn’t bother us) but were clearly not asked to turn music off. It wasn’t an issue, but very unfair!!

Local attractions

Coming to the Cotswolds for a bit of fresh air and gentle activity? Set forth for fishing at Clattercote Reservoir, or tee off at Cherwell Edge Golf Course; both are about 10 minutes away by car. Country walking routes are plentiful too, of course, as are fine buildings to mooch around. Blenheim Palace (40 minutes’ drive) is perhaps the best known of all the Oxfordshire stately homes (and with good reason, for ’tis fab) but it’s worth taking a look at some others too, including Farnborough Hall (10 minutes), Sulgrave Manor (20 minutes) and Upton House and Gardens (20 minutes). For a break from the classic Cotswolds activities, head out to meet the big birds of Fir Tree Falconry (15 minutes) or sigh over all the shiny machines at the British Motor Museum (20 minutes). And if you’re in need of a tipple or two to accompany your barbecue back at base, there are some excellent local ones to be acquired at Hook Norton Brewery (25 minutes) and the Cotswolds Distillery (half an hour).
