Well, isn’t this a really rather fine rural setting – on the banks of the River Ribble and within easy rambling distance of restorative pints at one of Horton-in-Ribblesdale’s three country pubs: how fab... Cragg Hill Farm is in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and the views from this peaceful place won’t let you forget that for even a sec. Gaze in one direction and you'll hopefully see Pen-y-Ghent towering over the site; turn the other way and you might just catch a glimpse of the Settle-Carlisle Railway trains wending their way through the scenic surrounds. Settle is a 15-minute drive to the south; as well as being the launch point for train rides, it’s also a good place to source supermarket supplies (or have a swim or a game of golf if you’re shunning such mundanities as shopping). For other days out, it’s recommended you look not much further than roaming around the Yorkshire Dales – although you could also consider hitting the coast at Morecambe, an hour’s drive away, if you’re yearning for a bit of sea air. Back at the farm, life is pretty laidback, with no noisome ents to interfere with the peace, just toilets, hot showers and a washing-up area to keep you and your kit clean.

喜欢: The location, the surrounding area, the tidiness and quietness despite there being lots of other campers

不喜欢: The loos, despite being modern and clean had no lights making them very difficult to use.

喜欢: Amazing views and plenty of flat camping ground with lots of lovely walking spaces. Enough toilets and showers (a random weekend in June off peak) great that they allow bbqs. Friendly welcome at reception and an overall great stay!

喜欢: Lovely stay. Ignore the reviews about the single track road - there are a couple of passing places in gateways and you can see quite a long way ahead on most of the journey to see any oncoming vehicles. The road is no different to many single track roads in the area. The facilities are basic but very, very clean and the freedom to pitch wherever you like suits us perfectly.

喜欢: The beautiful, tranquil surroundings. Lots of work has been done since our last visit which has improved the site. Cragg Hill is quiet with plenty of choice and space to pitch. Basic but all you need- toilets, showers and wash up area, plenty of walks in area no need to use car 😀Local pubs in easy walking distance. Good grub at Helwith Bridge. Love listening to and watching trains go by. Just what we needed for a relaxed weekend!

不喜欢: Toilets need lighting - solar on a timer easy to fit, and hand drying filling up as empty throughout stay.

喜欢: Lovely campsite, perfectly situated at the beginning of the 3 Yorkshire Peaks with brilliant views of Pen-y-ghent and only a short walk away from Horton’s pub. Amenities are exactly what you need, washing facilities, clean toilets and showers with plenty of hot water. Plenty of pitches to choose from. Would happily stay here again.

喜欢: Freedom to choose pitch location. Clean toilets and showers. Value for money (for basic facilities). 25 minute walk to a great pub (Helwith Bridge Inn) by the river and across fields.

不喜欢: Lack of hot water in toilet sinks. Apart from the showers the only other hot water was in the dish washing area.

喜欢: Absolutely fabulous time away. Cragg hill farm is a camp site I always return to. Very friendly, Clean, local park and pubs within walking distance. Have been going to this campsite for the past 6 years and we are booked in to go again later this year.

当地景点

This is a mighty fine part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park to be based in, as it’s within easy reach of several fab sights. Malham Cove and Malham Tarn, half an hour away by car, combine to make an excellent day’s walk; the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail (25 minutes’ drive) is another that’s worth walking. If it’s not walking weather, get underground at White Scar Cave (20 minutes) or Ingleborough Cave (35 minutes). Not active enough? Those for whom Pen-y-Ghent is not so much scenery as a challenge can set out from the site for the climb to the 694-metre peak. Follow up by scaling slightly taller Ingleborough (also accessible on foot from the farm) and taller-still Whernside (15 minutes’ drive) to tick Yorkshire’s Three Peaks Challenge off your bucket list. You may like a little sit down after all that (or instead…) and a fine place for that is in a seat on the Settle to Carlisle Railway, which you can board at the nearest station a mile away in Horton-in-Ribblesdale. Even if you’re not up for the ride, you may like to take in the view of the Ribblehead Viaduct (15 minutes), famed for many as the route taken by the Hogwarts Express.
