  • Peaceful dog-friendly site with views of Eryri (Snowdonia)
  • On the banks of the river Gwyrfai; a 10 minute-drive from Caernarfon
  • Walking routes directly from the site; playground and games room
Adventurous types, unite, and make your way to Bryn Gloch Caravan and Camping. This is the type of place where holidaymakers can hike all day long, and it's peaceful too, on the banks of the river Gwyrfai with views of the Eryri (Snowdonia) mountain range and the north Wales countryside. There are walking routes directly from the site, good news for those with dogs or a lust for adventure. One of the UK’s longest heritage railways, the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways passes through the site on its 25-mile journey past the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). You might want to board it yourself Caernarfon (10 minutes’ drive) and see if you can spot your patch of land as you pass by. That’s after you’ve experienced one of the boat trips that run along the Menai Strait from the quayside below Caernarfon Castle, of course. There’s a very generous serving of facilities at Bryn Gloch Caravan and Camping Park, from heated bathrooms and wifi to playgrounds and a games room. The pitches are spacious, giving you plenty of opportunities to soak in the scenery.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: Very clean site. Helpful and welcoming staff. Perfect location for us especially with the bus stop outside

Disliked: Stated on website that had a takeaway facility, however this wasn’t running at the time we stayed. Staff kindly informed us that local takeaways did deliver to site.

FHU cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked: Site is positioned in absolutely beautiful area surrounded by hills. It’s very peaceful. There is steam train going past through the day which is nice to see and hear and kids loved looking at it. It has got two playgrounds and it’s very well maintained. We would happily come back. Showers are nice and hot and have normal tap so you don’t have to keep pushing button all the time to keep hot water coming.

Disliked: Can’t think of anything negative about this site.

Liked: Campsite was perfect. Small park for the kids, and a games room. Lovely river that flows behind the site that the kids loved paddling in.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: The campsite is well organised, with plenty of the toilet/shower facilities. The camp shop had a good variety of items from food to camping extras. The plots are lined with hedges which provided some wind shelter.

Disliked: We were given a pitch right next to a stream. The sound of the water was lovely but the mosquitoes were not. We felt like we were being attacked constantly. I would suggest requesting to not be pitched there. Also they have a plan for how you need to pitch the tent in your assigned plot. This isn't so much a problem unless you have an electric cable that is on the shorter side like mine. I was offered the option of renting one at £5 a day but thankfully the tent next to me offered to swap cables, as their's was longer.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: - Good clean showers etc - Playgrounds on site - reasonably spacious pitches in general. - family friendly - The fact the Welsh Highland railway runs through the camp site - Beautiful location, within reasonable distance of attractions

Disliked: - our particular pitch was a squeeze to fit 2 cars in plus tent despite us specifying the largest size available - the automatic gate didn't seem to recognise our second car. And we weren't told the code till after we got stuck waiting. Perhaps both registrations should have been taken.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: I recently had an unforgettable camping experience at Bryn Gloch, located in the heart of Snowdonia National Park. This campsite offers easy access to the Snowdon Ranger Path, which we hiked with our 3 and 5-year-old children. The trail was manageable for our little ones, and the stunning views were well worth the effort. Bryn Gloch is surrounded by beautiful lakes, providing excellent opportunities for kayaking. Additionally, the campsite features a lovely mountain river, perfect for children's swimming as it is not deep, or for invigorating cold-water plunges. The serene environment and picturesque scenery made our stay truly special. The campsite itself was well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Bryn Gloch for anyone looking to enjoy nature and adventure with their family.

Adventurous types can tackle the fastest zipwire in the world at Zip World Penrhyn Quarry (half an hour). With underground trampolines based in slate caverns, you’re likely to work up a sweat. GreenWood Family Park (20 minutes) has traditional rides, including family-friendly rollercoasters. Where next?
