Time to initiate holiday mode? Camping Costa da Morte is just the spot for that, set alongside a quiet riverside. Galicia has lots to tempt people, like hiking trails, waterfalls, pretty towns and pilgrimage routes, and this dog-friendly site is absolutely another with its relaxing, rural environment. Plodding merrily through the countryside will be one of your main preoccupations, that’s for certain, with so much stunning scenery in the surrounding area. The coast is close by too, and keen hikers can waste no time in setting off along a stretch of the 200-kilometre-long Camiño dos Faros, 15 minutes’ drive away, which weaves past lighthouse after lighthouse (and, of course, fishing villages, castros and dunes too). The nearest towns will be another more than sensible stop, with tasty food served up in the restaurants and shops to pick up any bits and pieces for a barbecue. Baio Pequeno, 10 minutes’ drive away, has a generous amount of restaurants and shops. When it’s time for snack, one of the hottest spots on site is alongside the river. The food truck by the river has a tapas menu for bits and pieces like cheese, sandwiches or Iberian sausages. The cheese may, of course, be paired with one of their wines, like Godellos, Riojas or Mencias. Paellas and fideuá also feature on the menu during the weekends. There are other picnic areas on site too.

喜欢: Fantastic owner, pays attention to details, very friendly and welcoming. Gave us a goody bag for our dog! Clean and well maintained site with a lovely riverside area. Good coffee and microwave station and laundry facilities. Convenient base for walking the coast.

不喜欢: We did not dislike anything. For our taste the washroom facilities were a little “industrial” in style, but they were spotless and were definitely adequate.

喜欢: This is a well-organised and well-designed campsite with great facilities. Each motorhome pitch has its own picnic table and shaded area, which will make it a perfect spot in the summer. There are very good washing facilities, a launderette and good showers with plenty of hot water. Lovely walks along the river and the coastline here is stunning. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit!

喜欢: Sehr liebevoll geführter Campingplatz mit gutem Service und einer interessanten Lage an einem Flüsschen. Die Mitarbeiterinnen haben sich sehr um uns gekümmert. Hohes Sicherheitsniveau. Der Platz ist für Ausflüge in die Region gut geeignet.

不喜欢: Das direkte Umfeld des Platzes gibt nicht viel her.

喜欢: This was our first stop of our 4 week tour of Spain and Portugal. The site is secure and extremely well kept with grey and black water waste facilities and an area to clean your van. There are laundry facilities too and a great kitchen area. Each campervan/motorhome pitch had EHU and a shaded area with a picnic table. We were greeted by a very kind and friendly staff member who showed us around and told us about some areas to visit. We were very impressed by the whole site and would definitely use this one again.

喜欢: El entorno maravilloso, las instalaciones de 10, todo super bien pensado y la amabilidad y saber hacer del personal increíble!

不喜欢: Por poner una pega, que se hiciese hincapié en recordar a los campistas las normas ( no entrar con vehículos más tarde de las 23, no hacer ruido…)

A bike ride with a view? At the Pico De Meda (15 minutes’ drive) viewpoint, not only excellent views are in store but also a bike route through the wind farm – and sunsets here are especially stunning if you’ve got time for it. Peaceful strolls by Brandomil (10 minutes’ drive or 50 minutes’ walk) are always a lovely afternoon activity. However, if you’re keen for a longer, more challenging hike, Ruta da Auga de Zas (10 minutes) snakes past mills and waterfalls. Santiago de Compostela (55 minutes) leads to an elaborate map of pilgrimage routes along the Camino de Santiago too. Before you set off onto those pilgrimage trails, however, you may want to call upon Capilla de San Roque do Monte (10 minutes) much closer by. The chapel is built on a former hermitage in foothills with views towards the sea and a fishing village.
