The rather spectacular vistas towards the Iznájar reservoir are the big draw at Camping La Isla – as well as its friendly owners and lush setting at the entrance to the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park, with lots of outdoor activities within 20 minutes’ drive. Surrounded scenically by mountains and wooded foothills, the vast manmade water expanse of Iznájar is Andalusia’s largest, making for an excellent base for outdoorsy sorts to pitch up in pursuit of an active hol: walking, horse riding and cycling, plus swimming, sailing and kayak and pedalo hire are available on and around the lake. Back at base, an outdoor pool is to hand for cooling dips and lots of unwinding at its roomy grass terrace, all among heaps of lush Mediterranean greenery. Elsewhere, those with tiddlers in tow can pack their offspring off to befriend other small guests at the site’s playground, and during the busiest season, the park’s friendly and accommodating team (say enthused previous guests) organises themed evenings and activities both in and out of the pool for guests’ on-site amusement. When hunger strikes, local eats made using hosts Mati and Barto’s homegrown organic produce are available from the park’s licensed restaurant and its splendid terrace, where you can sit back and enjoy an evening aperitif (the mojitos are especially mucho quaffsome) while gazing on your fab lakeside setting.

不喜欢: Still closed today but we stayed nearby wild camping as there were no hotels in Rute. It rained all night

喜欢: The staff were so friendly.
The pool and bar/restaurant area are lovely.
Lots of trees and shade.

喜欢: Lugar muy tranquillo. Las parcelas tienen sombra por Los amplias arboles. Hay un piscina buena . Todo la instalacion hermosa y muy limpia.

不喜欢: Hemos estado un fi de semana, era mucha gente con sus ninos no acampamiento solo ahi por usar su resterante y piscina.
Es lejo de algun supermercado (35 minutos conduciendo ) y les no tienen tienda.

Quería comentarle que ,nosotros vendemos pan,leche,hielo.... algún producto básico,pero no sé a qué supermercado habrá ido,por lo que dice ,usted habrá ido al Carrefour, que si,se encuentra a 30minutos.
Si nos hubiera preguntado,tenía usted uno a 5 minutos y otro a 10 minutos,siento que tuviera que ir tan lejos.Un saludo y gracias

喜欢: The situation, very pretty area. Lovely swimming pool area.

不喜欢: The individual pitches are only suitable, in our opinion, for camping vans and not motorhomes. Ours is a modest, medium sized vehicle (7.35m x 2.35m) and the few pitches which we were shown were difficult to negotiate. We do appreciate that the terrain is unusual, sloping to the lake, but we do feel that the awkward pitches could be improved.

喜欢: Friendly welcome. Clean site with clean facilities. Nice views and walks nearby.

不喜欢: Electric hook up initially a problem but quickly sorted out. Cold washing up water. Very tight pitches and some overhanging trees for a motorhome. Shame the local woods outside the site had been spoilt with litter.

The lakeside setting of this site gives way to many an outdoor pursuit in the locale; away from the lake, guests can test their mettle with whitewater rafting, canyoning and clambering up via ferrata climbing routes on and around the Genil river. Camping La Isla’s Andalucia setting around 15 minutes’ drive from the southern edge of Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park is also a little over an hour's drive from inland spots such as Córdoba and Granada for urbanised days around historic cities. Another easy excursion option is an hour’s road trip to the lively port city of Málaga on southern Spain’s Costa del Sol, where heaps of kid-friendly activities and attractions around the coastline include several waterparks and the 40 family-friendly amusements at Tivoli World theme park. Should one be of a foodie persuasion, tours to sample the local gastronomy are highly recommended: Rute is famed across the land for its tasty and traditionally produced brandies and liquors, and the area is also known for its abundance of olive oil and charcuterie meats.
