What if you could have a holiday and do a bit of good for the world at the same time? Well, this is the win-win situation that’s on offer at Fairytale Sanctuary, a family-run property about 10 minutes’ drive from Škofljica. These pitches are part of a peaceful animal sanctuary that’s run as a non-profit charity, so by staying here you’ll be contributing to the welfare of the residents – that’s bound to bring a bit of added glow to your outdoor break. And of course you’ll have the chance to meet the animals while you’re staying here too, as there are daily tours of the sanctuary (English-language tours at 9:30am each day except weekends). It’s not all about doing good for the animals, however – you’ll likely be doing good for your own mood with a stay at this peaceful place, which is up on a hillside with lovely views out over the valley and surrounding pastures. It’s a fairly simple site, but guests have access to showers, toilets and water at all times, with washing machine use available on request too. The animals that live here have been rescued from the slaughterhouse, so you’ll be asked to respect that by not preparing or consuming meat, poultry or fish while on the farm. This place is all about creating a nice quiet haven for the residents, so you’re also asked to refrain from heavy drinking and loud parties, and keep your dog on a lead around the pitches (they’re not allowed in the main farm area). If a campfire is an essential part of your holiday, you’ll be pleased to hear they’re allowed here – bring your own wood or forage for scraps in the next-door forest.

不喜欢: This site is very small and was crowded. Very narrow and steep access road to the site. Not really suitable for caravans and certainly totally unsuitable for longer vans and twin axles. Difficult to manoeuvre the van on the site as space is extremely limited. No room to swing a cat !!

来自经理: In our discription it is clearly written, that the rosd is narrow and curvy, on any map it is also evident, that the road is in some places steep.

Even though, even 12 m long buses , long vans, caravans and twin axles can drive up the road, if the driver is somewhat skilled, which one should definately be, when having a long caravan in tow.

It is also clearly written, that we are a small parking site AND NOT A CAMPSITE!!
The pictures show clearly, how much space there is, when the place is fully booked.
There is always enough place to maneuver all the vehicles and caravans, again, if one has the skills to do so.
Ir ia also clearly stated, that there is NO WIFI so we feel it is unfair to rate something, we do not offer.


Our services are offered in return for a donation of ones own choice. So rating value for money we also feel is unfair.


Clearly people with expensive and huge cars and caravans should stick to luxury camping sites with an appropriate price, and not try to get by cheap and then complain there was no kuxuruy on a parking place!!!

喜欢: Amazing location, surrounded by mountains and forest. The sanctuary is runner by a family that puts a lot of heart and effort in what they do and they still have the energy to welcome and make and incredibly comfortable stay for all the guests they receive every day.

Located on a hill, the curvy, narrow road is manageable even for a long trailer or a large mobile home (9+ metres) as it is well-paved. Do not drive on the gravel roads. In the village, turn right at the stone wall with a cross on top.

This part of Slovenia has some splendid hiking and bike paths for those who’d like to get out and explore some of the scenery. Ask on site for recommendations of suitable trails, or details of other local activities such as horse riding, paintballing or watersports. It’s worth remembering that the sights are not all above ground either – you can get a good insight into what lurks under the surface at Županova jama cave (25 minutes’ drive), which has seven underground caverns with amazing rock formations. A little further along the road (or 25 minutes’ direct drive) is the restored Turjak Castle, home to a puppet theatre and a collection of military items. From this fairly central location most of Slovenia should be accessible – but if you only have time for one trip, it should be to Ljubljana (20 minutes) to walk through the Old Town, cross the Triple Bridge and climb to the castle.
