It's a mere minute from Porto's Parque Orbitur Canidelo to the gorgeous golden beach of Salgueiros on the Atlantic Ocean. And a mere eight kilometres from the port-producing cellars of Vila Nova da Gaia, a short drive in turn from more of the same at the fab old city and UNESCO World Heritage Site of Porto. The sands, dunes, restaurants and bars of Madalena beach are only three kilometres from here. You'll be able to soak up Atlantic Ocean views from Parque Orbitur Canidelo's pool, kick a ball around the spacious multisports pitch, play ping pong in the common room, or laze about of an evening in the TV room (glass of port in handrecommended…). A roomy playground is also on site, along with tennis courts and well-kept amenities including accessible areas for guests with limited mobility. Cafés and a supermarket are within 10 minutes' walk.

喜欢: Voorzieningen. Goed bed, koelkast bank tafeltjes met stoelen, schoon sanitair en hulpvaardig personeel. Het strand ligt aan de overkant van de weg.

不喜欢: Omgeving op de camping. Weinig groen en weinig kleur. Veel beton.

Both Salgueiros and Madalena beaches are well-known north Portuguese surfing destinations, along with the nearby sands of Aguda and Senhor da Pedra, making up part of the 17 kilometres of beach in the municipality of Vila Nova da Gaia. If you're off to Porto (but of course), a bus to there passes close to the site. You'll need at least a couple of days in this most excellent city, one (at least) around its port caves and old attractions such as the Dom Luis I Bridge, Palácio da Bolsa and Clérigos Tower, and another to take a boat out from Porto along the Douro river. From Porto, take the historic tram to Porto to Foz do Douro, the swish area where the Douro river meets the Atlantic Ocean. A modern addition to these parts is the Teleférico de Gaia cable car, which opened in 2011 to take sightseers on a vastly viewsome trip over the Douro. The Upper Station, on the south side of the river, gives access to Porto's historical area, the city centre, Porto Cathedral and the Lello & Irmãos bookshop; at the Lower Station, hop off for the Porto caves and Douro river cruises.
