添加您的业务详细信息Can’t decide between coast, countryside or city? Be within driving distance of all three at Quinta do Vale Formoso, a site in the hills of central Portugal a 25-minute drive from Caldas da Rainha and around half an hour to sandy Foz do Arelho beach.
If you’re planning a lazy hol and this Atlantic Ocean destination sounds a tad too far for splash time, have no fear: you can still wallow in the water with ease at a swimming pool in the park’s grounds. And what grounds they are... Quinta do Vale Formoso’s grassy gardens, stretching out towards a line of tall trees in the distance, helps this prettily titled park live up to its name and also house fab facilities for horsing about including a riding arena, stables and a training school.
Trotting, galloping and cantering generally get you working up an appetite? Barbecues are on site and you can take your food into the cosy common area to settle down on squishy armchairs beside the fireplace.
Outdoor activities close by are at Serras de Aire e Candeeiros Natural Park around a 20-minute drive away, for trekking through a barren landscape, spelunking in chalky caves or searching for the fossilised tracks of dinosaurs. Nearer still are the Salinas de Rio Maior, to see artisans sift salt from the pools and process it in an age-old way.
Portugal’s rife with ancient sights of note as well as long-running traditions, from the massive Castle of Óbidos (25 minutes’ drive) to the stately Alcobaça Monastery. And if you want to get to know the Leiria area like a local? Ask site staff about guided walks, wine and cheese nights, and quad biking through the surrounds.

On the way to Foz do Arelho beach from the site, drop by the Lagoa de Óbidos (35 minutes' drive), to kitesurf and windsurf on the lagoon (or just watch others showing off their skills...).
The famed beach of Nazaré is a little further on at a 40-minute drive from the site, home to one of the world’s biggest waves as well as – in the words of Quinta do Vale Formoso’s owners – “fireworks, folk dancing and a fair”.
Portugal’s capital also got a festival spirit: make a beeline to Lisbon for cool shopping, old streets snaking down hills and topnotch seafood restaurants an hour and 15 minutes away.
