Take your Tuscan trip to new heights with a stay 300 metres above sea level and next to a spacious swimming pool at family-friendly Luxor Chianti Village in Castellina, 20 minutes’ drive from the spectacular architecture of Siena. Guests hurtle around a handful of hairpin bends to reach this site set on a hectare’s worth of grassy green land surrounded by oak trees and typically Tuscan brushwood. It has ample room for spreading out on the grounds as well as cosy amenities like the trattoria-style Trasqua restaurant near the adults’ pool for gourmet cuisine once your belly starts rumbling. There’s free wifi at this eatery, as well as in its bar area, for researching trips to some of Tuscany’s top-ranking towns and cities, like Monteriggioni (15 minutes), Colle di Val d'Elsa (20 minutes), San Gimignano (40 minutes) and Florence (an hour), while tasting Chianti wine from the site’s cellar. If the kids won’t sit still as you sip, tire them out with a couple of hours in the playground, which has a paddling pool as well as the usual equipment. Pets are permitted at this park, so you really can bring the whole clan along on your tour of Tuscany, and barbecue areas are on hand for grilling grub. For a breakfast designed to ease you into the day, the park serves up coffees ranging from espressos to cappuccinos, along with pastries including homemade brioches.

喜欢: The place was super quiet at night and shower/ toilet facilities great(clean,tidy with great showers)

不喜欢: The site was not manned from 5 pm to 9am and the pool,market, bar and reception closed for most of our stay. The road in was rough for a campervan, unsealed and full of potholes!!

不喜欢: Zufahrt mit dem Wohnmobil sehr abenteuerlich, Stellplätze auch teilweise schwierig zu befahren. Unbeheizte, „offene“ Duschen, keine Grauwasserentsorgung, Frischwasser nur mit Kanister

喜欢: Camping patří mezi ty lepší v Toskánsku. Camp je opravdu velký, má velké hřiště pro děti a bazén. Část pro karavany/stany není tak velká, takže velikost pozemku je spíše výhoda. Camp je čistý, většina míst pro stany se ale lehce svažuje dolů, což je trochu problém. Místa jsou vedle stromů, které příjemně stíní. Na místě je společná větší lednice, což je určitě velké plus. Jediné, co bylo trochu nepříjemné je tlak vody ve sprchách. Je opravdu velký a sprchy nemají žádnou krytou odkládací část na oblečení/ručník, tudíž je vše hned mokré. Flexibilní příjezd je plus a online check-in v nepřítomnosti člověka na recepci také potěšil. Příjezdová cesta je prašná a cca 2 km dlouhá, ale nic, co by se nedalo osobním autem zvládnout.

喜欢: Nothing, except the staff at reception were helpful and lovely.

不喜欢: No hot water in the showers which were open between 12-3pm & 6-9pm. So you couldn’t have a cold shower as the water was turned off. Extremely dusty. And charged extremely high tariffs. I would not recommend staying when you pay so much and can’t have a shower and if the water is turned on it’s cold. Find somewhere else to stay.

Your closest tourist town while staying at this site is the medieval-era Monteriggioni (15 minutes’ drive). Enter through the pretty Porta Franca gates, then walk the walls that circle the centre to take in the views over Chianti before casting your eye over the reproductions of old weapons at the Arme Museum. Alternatively, give your day out a contemporary twist with a trip to the Chianti Sculpture Park (half an hour) or stick to town times at Colle di Val d'Elsa (20 minutes), heading here to admire the crystal glass produced in the area and the towering cathedral. Try to time your visit for the first Sunday of the month to browse artisanal goodies at the market. San Gimignano (40 minutes) is a top choice whatever day of the week you turn up at this 13th-century town atop a hill. Glimpse the medieval towers soaring above the skyline, then set forth for Florence to browse the unmissable city’s famed collections of Renaissance art in the Galleria dell'Accademia and Uffizi Gallery, as well as its terracotta-tiled Duomo.
