当地景点
This corner of Rhône-Alpes paradise is happily close to two of the most beautiful villages in France. The tall, gaily shuttered houses of medieval Largentière (10 minutes’ drive) sit haphazardly along the River Ligne, while the mellow-stone cottages in Balazuc (15 minutes) hug the course of the Ardèche River as it meanders through its gorge.
Sports enthusiasts can spend their time hiking or pedalling up the steep hills of the Monts d’Ardèche Regional Natural Park (10 minutes). The latter will enjoy the challenge of the long-distance Via Ardèche cycle path (an hour by bike), and if that sounds like too much effort, then try canoeing through the Ardèche gorges (45 minutes’ drive) – if you want to up the ante a bit, the arduous sport of canyoning is popular in the Chassezac gorges (an hour).
The Ardèche has subterranean attractions too. Don’t miss the chance to marvel at the ethereal (replica) cave paintings at Grotte Chauvet 2 (half an hour), the bizarre limestone formations in Aven d’Orgnac (45 minutes) or the underground pools at Grotte Saint-Marcel (55 minutes).
