Count yourself lucky if you get the chance to stay at Camping Les Cent Chênes, for this quiet site is set in the stunning Alpes-Maritimes, surrounded by the Côte d'Azur's Mediterranean beaches and seaside resorts as well as the little Alpine villages of the Nice hinterland.
Between the sea and the mountains, guests are in pole position for exploring it all. Camping Les Cent Chênes is a 45-minute drive from the centre of Nice and an hour from Cannes, Monaco and Antibes (sailing, art and history havens…). Naturally, the mountains and beaches provide excellent terrain for outdoor activities such as hiking, watersports and cycling, and that's all within easy driving distance of the site.
Your days may be full of action, but there's plenty of opportunity to have some proper downtime back at base. The site is quiet, but friendly and full of good-humoured staff. The neat park has centuries-old oak trees and a heated swimming pool for afternoons when you'd rather rest your feet and read a good book.
Opposite the pool, there’s a bar with a terrace where you're welcome to refuel with a drink, ice cream or crepe. Every morning, the site can deliver fresh bread and pastries to your pitch, starting the day off right. There’s also a homemade pizza delivery service for lunch or dinner up for grabs, so don’t worry if you don’t feel like cooking after a busy day of exploring Provence-Alpes-Côte-D'Azur.

Having Nice (45 minutes’ drive) within striking distance means that your day can begin on the city promenade overlooking the Baie des Anges or browsing the paintings in the Matisse Museum. Stroll lazily around the old town, set yourself down on a coffee shop terrace or the beach or tour the museums non-stop.
On the way home from Nice, you could stop by Cagnes-sur-Mer (20 minutes) for a drink in the courtyard of the medieval village's castle, or stop by one of the many Mediterranean beaches surrounding the city to cool off.
Feeling a pull to the mountains instead? The hinterland is dotted with old villages and towns on rocky outcrops such as Tourrettes-sur-Loup (20 minutes), Gourdon (50 minutes), Èze (an hour) and Grasse (55 minutes). Since Tourrettes-sur-Loup is so close to the site, there's always time to go back and browse new shops or stock up on food at the Wednesday morning market.
Menton (an hour and 10 minutes ) is a little further afield, but a gorgeous place with beaches, gardens, museums and historic old town sites such as a basilica with an 18th-century bell tower.
