Lovely Lake Lavaud, the biggest lake in the Poitou-Charentes at 200 hectares and a place for boating, sailing, fishing and canoeing as well as for birdwatching: over 170 species have been spotted from its shores. And lovely Camping des Lacs, so short a walk (100 metres) from the lakeside that a good part of the site has views overlooking it: if you need more water on your French hol, the site is also just a minute's walk from Guerlie beach. Camping des Lacs has modern facilities to suit all sorts of guests from families and couples to solo travellers: there's both indoor and outdoor pools for swims in all weathers, as well as a paddling pool for safe tiddler splashing. Both pools are equipped for guests with reduced mobility. For kids, trampolines and a bouncy castle are at the playground set handily close to the pools and the snack bar, while sporty sorts have volleyball and badminton courts, a pétanque area and hiking and biking trails nearby. A games room is also on site and rounds of miniature golf can be tackled at the beach. Other facilities include a snack bar and restaurant dishing up tasty meals at decent prices. The amenities block has toilets and free hot showers, and there's also a washing-up area. A grocery shop selling daily essentials is a 300-metre walk from the site; a beach snack bar, a restaurant and an English pub are all nearby.

喜欢: Amazing lake view, spacious private pitch, well worth the extra few euros. Friendly staff. Beautiful rural setting. Heated pool to myself. Welcoming bar/ restaurant on the lakeside, offering reasonably priced and tasty food.

不喜欢: Long walk to chemical wc point. Lack of lighting inside toilet block at night.

不喜欢: Facilities, toilets and showers were rarely clean
No toilet roll
No basins close by to wash hands
Poorly lit sanitary building
Sounds odd but the doors banged closed on the toilets and showers, so very disruptive if located close to the sanitary block which we were
Fairly remote for cafes and shops, the beach restaurant 16 was dreadful for service and food

喜欢: Fantastic location lakeside and easy access with paddle boards etc. Lifeguarded beach and well sectioned off swimming areas and toddler paddling area. Very quiet and good size pitches with high bushes separating each so lots of privacy. Each pitch has its own water supply. Helpful staff. Good disabled facilities. Lovely pool area With snack bar. Clean and plentiful sanitary facilities

不喜欢: No wifi as advertised other than at the reception building or at the bar on the beach. The crazy golf (not on the site but mentioned in the description was overgrown and didn’t look like it had been operational for some time.

喜欢: The campsite offered everything we needed during our stay. Lots of things to do with the kids, easy access to the beach and lake, bread delivery every morning, very friendly and helpful staff, activities and bar reasonably priced

喜欢: Camping très agréable avec des emplacements très grand des sanitaires propres et suffisamment proche. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié la piscine chauffée. Et le personnel très accueillant et toujours près à répondre à toutes nos questions ainsi qu'à nous aider à retrouver le maillot de bain de ma petite fille qu'elle avait perdu aux sanitaire. This is the land of the green and the outdoors: the Charente Limousine and Haute Vienne regions are known for their scenic green landscapes and their outdoors activities like hiking, cycling and horse riding trails, all in a handsome natural setting. Get out on the hoof via the two equestrian centres on the lakeside where you can canter around on horse or pony, or go out onto the water at the watersports centre with canoe, windsurf, kayak, paddleboard, rowing boat and catamaran hire as well as lessons for those who need them. The lakes of the Haute Charente are popular in the area for fishing (you'll need a fishing licence) and for watery activities like sailing, kayaking and canoeing. Lake Lavaud, a short walk away, is a big pull for twitchers because of the many bird species spotted here over the years, as well as for boaters and watersporters: dinghies, canoes and kayaks are all available to hire at the lake's boat centre and instructors are available if you're new to the art.
