What a fably located place... there's a sandy beach an 800-metre stroll from Domaine Des Salins, and from there it's a short and scenic drive or coastal walk further to the fab Vendée seaside towns of Saint-Jean-de-Monts and Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez. And from there it's five kilometres to St-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, and from there about half an hour's spectacular seaside drive to Les Sables-d’Olonne… With all this in mind, it's safe to say that you'll be well sorted for a variety of Vendée coastal capers around here (not just beaches but also watersports, sea-view games of golf, bike rides and family attractions including a waterpark and adventure park). Even if you're not pottering off to the beach there are several water-based days available on site: Des Salins guests can pick from the indoor swimming complex with pool, spa and paddling pool, and a heated seasonal outdoor swimming pool with paddling pool, open from May to mid-September and surrounded by a large sun terrace with loungers. Weekly entertainment (including dancing nights, karaoke, bingo evenings and aqua gym) runs in summer, along with a kids' club. The site also has a pétanque court and communal barbecues, which become a busy meeting point on hot summer seaside evenings.

喜欢: Clean, well run site. Fun activities for children each day. Excellent pool and water slides. Spacious pitches. Nice bar! Great that it was possible to order bread and croissants each day, too. 15 min walk to the beach, which was lovely at sunset.

不喜欢: Quite a drive to supermarkets, and area immediately surrounding the site is not very inspiring.

不喜欢: Facilities didn’t get cleared 2 days in week. Also guest staying in caravans used facilities at weekends and left them untidy for Sunday evening.

喜欢: Fabulous cycle tracks around this site, site itself is well maintained.
It looks bigger on the website.

不喜欢: We were there in September the cafe/shop was closed as was all the restaurants in the immediate area .. end of season.
5km to nearest selection of restaurants and shops, which is fine and a lovely cycle.
Had to pay for Wi-Fi not expensive but in this day and age it’s strange !

喜欢: Excellent campsite. Friendly and helpful staff about local area. Clean and very spacious pitch. Loved evening swimming session. Felt safe and friendly. Beautiful area and lovely park for the kids. Easy walk to the beach. Easy access to local resorts. Nantes is amazing and the elephant was great. Really good value.

不喜欢: Not really dislike but French electric hookup- (my fault) but the reception had an adaptor and was amazing at helping.

The shops, sands and waters of Les Bacs are within walking distance of the site. Under a couple of kilometres from there, the eight kilometres of beach and award-winning sands of Saint-Jean-de-Mont make for a lively spot in summer; a casino, golf course and colourfully restored seafront are in town to keep you busy too. Just along the coast from there, St Hilaire de Riez has a waterpark, summer festivals and a busy nightlife vibe; surfing, sailing, windsurfing and paddleboarding in its waters, and the Atlantic Toboggan waterpark and Feeling Forest tree climbing adventure park just outside town. The Vendée has more cycle paths than any other region in France, including the 500 or so kilometre run from the nearby isle of Noirmoutier along the coast past Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie. For a (considerably) shorter route, try the 17 kilometres from Saint-Gilles towards Brétignolles-sur-Mer, home to 13 more kilometres of splendid Vendée sands.
