After a stay in Sarthe’s Normandie-Maine regional park, on the edge of a swimming and fishing lake, and at the crossroads of hiking, biking and horse-riding paths? If this has you nodding your head excitably, make your way to Camping de la Forêt. Whether your plans are to potter around the Pays de la Loire with family or friends, this site a five-minute drive from the village of Sillé-le-Guillaume is grand for recharging your batteries while surrounded by nature. Alternatively, rev things up a touch with the range of outdoor activities organised in the local area, from rock and tree climbing to mountain biking and kayaking. Less keen on sports and more into scouting out some scenic spots? Go further north into the Alpes Mancelles region to wander the wooded hills and valleys hereabouts. Trekking trails start right from the park too – simply ask staff for info on recommended routes. If all this is sounding a tad too tiring, stay on site and chill out with leisurely games of pétanque, table tennis and table football, then move indoors and browse for a book in the library or turn on the telly in the TV room and flick through the channels. Feeling sluggish? Shake things up with games on the volleyball and badminton courts; energetic enfants have a playground to whizz around and entertainment for the whole family is organised in the warmer months.

喜欢: Very friendly welcome. Good level pitch with electric, water and drainage. Toilet block fantastic, and the cleanest we have seen. If we were giving out awards the receptionist would get one for the friendliest welcome, and the woman who cleaned the toilets for the most thorough job we gave seen. The location is fabulous with walks around lake "coco". We also walked through the forest into town not visit the castle.

喜欢: Peaceful
Lake was lovely.
Pitches were good sized and fairly level.
The few activities available around the lake were good and reasonably priced - mini golf, pedalos, pony riding. But we were definitely expecting more around from what we had read.
Site had a good small playground, there was a bigger adventure playground 5 mins walk away near the lake.
Facilities were kept clean and tidy.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Ordering croissants for the next day was easy and they were tasty.

不喜欢: We found the advertising a little misleading - it said there was lots of activities on for children and a small shop/takeaway on site. In reality there was no entertainment and it wasnt even possible to buy water on site. The food truck was a health food type thing - no good for fussy children (or adults!)
Unfortunately we didn’t manage to enjoy the lakeside beach as the weather was not good but this would definitely have been good in the sun!

喜欢: Camping très propre, personnel très accueillant, emplacement vraiment grand, sanitaire propre.
Vraiment je recommande le camping, nous y retournerons dès que l’occasion s’y présentera.
Au bord du lac, avec les activités avec des enfants en bas âge c’est top !

不喜欢: Was not let in to camp as arrived 15mins after reception closed and none of the contact numbers from the email or pasted onto the entrance door worked. no response from site after emailing multiple times. Had to drive around to find somewhere else that evening. Unacceptable customer service. If you expect to have any issues or delay don’t bother booking here as you won’t be let it. DO NOT have any unplanned stops or emergencies.

To please the nippers, Zoo de La Flèche has 1,200 animals including rarities like white tigers, polar bears and red pandas. The habitats here are designed to mimic the natural environments of the creatures – look out for landscapes ranging from the Argentinian pampas to the Australian bush. Guaranteed to up the pace, Le Mans (50 minutes) is a gem in the region, especially if you’re keen on racing. Delve into the history of the city's renowned 24 Hours of Le Mans motor race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans Museum, and have a go on the simulator rides and go-karts at the racetrack.
