Fresh air and dips in the (distinctly fresh) waters of the English Channel are just some of the highlights of a stay at Le Domaine Saane et Mer, a family- and dog-friendly site on the outskirts of Quiberville, in Normandy, northern France. With the beach a mere five-minute walk away, you’ll be able to spend as much time as you like on the paddleboard (or the kayak). You could also join a catamaran course at Quiberville Yachting Club (July and August only) or take a waterfront stroll to Sainte-Marguerite-sur-Mer (20 minutes on foot) to check out the ruined World War II bunker at the bottom of the chalky cliffs. You might also like to wait for the return of the fishermen, so you can buy the catch of the day straight from the boat; in addition, this area (and in particular the nearby village of Veules-les-Roses, a 15-minute drive to the west) is renowned for its oysters. There's a restaurant on site, where you can keep an eye on the kids as they explore the swings, slides and assorted interactive games in the playground. And if the weather takes a turn for the worse, the action can move to the games room, which has billiards. There's also a ping-pong table outdoors. On-site amenities include a toilet block with facilities for disabled guests and showers.

喜欢: Great location, short walk to town and beach (small hill) Lovely site with great views. The drive through beautiful French country side was brilliant.

不喜欢: Watch out for the sharp drop into the motorhome service area. We Al.ost grounded.

喜欢: Fantastic site. Very well laid out with great facilities including a peaceful pool, bar, regular food trucks in high season, and sports facilities. Friendly and chilled out atmosphere. Lovely setting - close to a long beach and small town. Very pretty.

喜欢: The campsite is big with lots of activities. Pool area is nice (and heated) and 10 min walk to the beach (after you leave the site). Environmental considerations with design (E.g. wildflower areas and rain water systems). Would like to see it again in 10 years once all the planted trees have grown!

不喜欢: Lack of signs, it isn’t clear where everything is. No staff presence, the facilities, although brand new, didn’t seem well maintained day to day. Disabled toilet lock needs changing as very hard to use and not suitable for a disabled toilet.

喜欢: Convent stop on the way to the ferry.

Good sports / outside activities area for the kids.

Good food truck doing fancy hot dogs (convenient with the bad weather) - get there early if interested, they had ran out by 7pm.

不喜欢: The pitch we had (20) was on a grass slope - ok with chocks. Though with the wet weather, we only managed to escape (in our T6) with a push from a friendly neighbours. Everyone else was in tents - so I’m not sure why we were placed there.

The toilets, though modern had a weird set up. When in the loo, your feet are surrounded by soapy water, should someone else be having a shower.

The local area was a bit bleak but that may be to do with the rain.

Angiens Tree Adventures (20 minutes’ drive) has simple courses for children on their first experience, as well as several runs for out-and-out treetop daredevils. There are also ziplines and the Mégazan jump (from a height of 12 metres), plus bike rentals if you want to take the excitement down a notch. Following the coast to the east leads to Dieppe (25 minutes), where a clifftop castle dating back to the 15th century has far-reaching coastal views and a museum with maritime displays. Creatures from the English Channel populate a small aquarium at Estran Cité de la Mer. Stalls at Dieppe’s market (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) sell Norman specialities, from cheese to cider. Inhabited by deer and boars, Eawy Forest (40 minutes) is the place for relaxed hikes (or cycle rides) in the shade of tall beech trees. Stop for a picnic, check out the deep hole known as the Puit Merveilleux or visit the Musée du cidre et des Métiers traditionnels to learn all about this popular apple-based drink.
