The land around this site in Morbihan revolves around the curves and swerves of the Atlantic coast, with hiking trails close by on which guests can meander around the coves, peninsulas and estuaries that make up this stretch of southern Brittany. In the middle of all this, Camping l'Oasis, set a mere 50 metres from a sandy beach, makes a top base for all manner of coastal capers.
This green and grassy spot has trees and hedges all around, giving plenty of privacy and lots of shaded corners in which to unwind. In terms of sport, Camping l'Oasis has a volleyball court, pétanque zone and ping pong table where you can challenge your travelling companions (or, failing that, the new neighbours). Bouncy kids are well served at the site's play area, which has trampolines and inflatables to leap about on.
Seeking snacks and sea views? A fab nearby crêperie can be reached in less than 10 minutes on foot. For brinier bites, head down to the beach at low tide and join the locals in search of clams, mussels and oysters (check with the town hall for tide times). For more substantial supplies, take a 10-minute drive into the town centre for a supermarket, or leave the cooking to the pros for the evening and dine out in one of Damgan’s many restaurants.

For days spent close to home, head along the coast to the local sailing school and watersports centre (20 minutes' walk). Guests who'd rather head inland (and honestly, with green surrounds like these, why wouldn't you?) can choose between cross-country canters at a nearby riding school (15 minutes' drive) and teeing off at a family-friendly miniature golf course (10 minutes).
This part of the world is also a hub for walkers and cyclists: GR routes 34, 39 and 349 all run through Damgan. Can't decide between coast and countryside? Take the GR 349 from Billiers or Le Moustoir (15 minutes) and follow the river as it slowly widens into an estuary that flows out into the sea. Fancy setting out on two wheels? A bike hire shop in town is handily located a five-minute drive from base.
Offshore attractions in the region include the nearby island of Île-aux-Moines. This wildlife haven can be reached via ferry from Vannes (25 minutes' drive, then 10 minutes' crossing time). Before you leave dry land, make sure to have a poke around this walled town, whether you opt for its aquarium and butterfly house or its fearsome medieval ramparts.
