‘Proximity to the beach’ usually comes pretty high up on wishlists for Finistère family holidays – and that feature is well and truly ticked at Camping Paradis La Mer d’Iroise. This well-equipped site is a mere 150 metres from the beach, a few minutes’ drive west of Plomodiern. How you choose to make the most of that location is up to you – sandy Plage de Lestrevet stretches out over almost three kilometres, so there’s plenty of space for sunbathing as well as more active times at the local watersports centre (which is a few minutes’ walk away for paddleboarding, kayaking and surfing). Of course, when you’re on holiday there may be days when even walking that far seems a bit too much, so it’s handy to know that there’s plenty to keep you entertained on site too, including an aquatic area with a heated covered pool, a covered paddling pool, a small outdoor pool and waterslides. Beyond that, there’s also a multisports court, a pétanque court and two play areas – and in the summer months you’ll also be able to add in kids’ club activities and various family entertainments. Eating’s a good way to pass the time too, whether you settle in at the restaurant or rent a barbecue and get the grill going. A shop on site sells groceries and has a delivery of fresh bread and pastries each morning. Meanwhile, if you do choose to leave the site, a good way to get around is to hire e-bikes on site and head out on the GR34 cycle path (100 metres away). Whatever you get up to in the area, it’s handy to know there’s a laundry back on site, plus bathrooms for all (even dogs, who have their own ‘canibain’ for a warm bath).

A short stroll to the beach gives you access to a whole lot of activities, including paddleboarding, kayaking, sand yachting and paragliding (or simply paddling and messing about in the sand…). The nearby GR34 bike path runs along the length of the Brittany coast, so you could also set off for cycle rides long or short to see some of the seaside scenery. Elsewhere along the coast, you can go scuba diving in Douarnenez (25 minutes’ drive) or find fishing spots along the shoreline. There are some great coastal hikes around the Crozon Peninsula (25 minutes), taking you to spots like Cap de la Chèvre and Pointe des Espagnols. If you’d like to see marine life without donning scuba kit, head to L’Aquashow in Audierne (45 minutes) or Océanopolis in Brest (50 minutes). For a heritage-themed day out instead, drive to Quimper (35 minutes) to see the castle, cathedral and half-timbered houses.

喜欢: Staff very friendly. Can hear the sound of the waves at night time. Beautiful location. Lots of things for children to do. Indoor swimming pool was great for the couple of rainy days we had and the slides were fantastic. Essentials available on site. Toilets are clean. Showers are nice, warm and powerful 👍

不喜欢: Toilet blocks were odd in that women have to walk into the men's urinal area to wash hands. I recommend taking hand wash and use the washbasins like the women in our group did. Minor inconvenience.

喜欢: Everywhere was lovely and clean and well maintained, staff all very helpful and friendly, fab location, lovely feel to it!!

不喜欢: The only thing would be the toilets next to the pool could probably do with an update/deep clean and whilst we’re cleanish were abit smelly (the camping facilities recently upgraded were fab!)

不喜欢: Cramped spaces. Tent/touring pitches in amongst caravans. Could hear every noise made in them. Entertainment at night was excessively loud disco music aimed at kids that you had no choice but to listen to until very late in the night. Advertised with wifi but had to pay additional 11e per day for it

Nous sommes désolés d'apprendre que vous n'avez pas apprécié votre séjour. Vous avez réservé votre emplacement la veille de votre arrivée, en plein mois d'aout, le choix était donc compliqué concernant les emplacements (certains sont certes plus grands que d'autres et avec de meilleurs spots).
Concernant le bruit, vous n'êtes pas venu nous en informé et êtes partis directement sans nous prévenir. Nous tenons à vous rappeler que vous avez réservé dans un camping paradis, avec des animations donc, prévues jusqu'à 22h30. Le bruit aux alentours des autres clients, font partis de la vie d'un camping mais nous sommes navrés que des gens soient irrespectueux arrivés à une certaine heure...
Quant au wifi, il est indiqué être présent sur le camping, en accès payant, car nous passons par un prestataire.
Vous souhaitant tout de même bonne continuation.

喜欢: Very good location located about 100m from the beach. A lot of facilities on site and the pools and slides were well maintained and clean. The toilet block and shower facilities were very clean and look to be recently upgraded to a high standard.
Views from the terraced pitches looking out over the bay are stunning if you have the weather on your side, although slightly exposed to wind.
This is a lively park and we had some issues with unsupervised children running around the pitches until late at night (11pm) although we've come to expect this from the larger 4 star parks. If you are looking for a quieter site this might not be the park for you.
We would recommend this site if you are looking for a full-facilities site with entertainment, a pool, and on-site dining. The surrounding area is stunning and there is plenty to explore without needing to drive far.

不喜欢: Pitch sizes were a notably smaller than other parks we've stayed on in France, but still big enough.
