There's a rather smashing pool at Camping Bellevue in Villers-sur-Mer on the Normandy coast: it's covered, it's heated, it's spacious, it's surrounded by a solarium… and it's got quite a fab and splashy play area for tiddlers too – do say aaaarrr as well to the Captain Jack Sparrow lookalike pirate.
Camping Bellevue is a big, modern and family-friendly site, a couple of kilometres from the long and golden sandy stretch of beaut beach at Villers-sur-Mer. There's heaps to do here for all ages, from bounding around on the bouncy castle to escaping to the well-equipped gym in an attempt to exercise off some moules frites. And then have some cuisine, either at the site restaurant or sizzled up yourself at the new and shiny site barbies...
Also around for all ages are a playground, a TV room, ping pong and a pétanque court. An extensive summer entertainment programme for all plus a kids' club runs in the summer months.

Pack the sunnies and the swimming togs, for the golden lengths of beaches at Villers-sur-Mer are excellent options for family days out, lazing about or taking to the water; windsurfing, snorkelling and waterskiing are all on offer nearby. A glitzy casino is in town too for grownup nights out.
The Calvados region has centuries of history to delve into, from the Bayeux tapestry to the D-Day landing beaches and war cemeteries. Principal town Caen is home to the Mémorial de Caen Museum, as well as medieval buildings and a medieval castle.
From Caen, head east to the 19th-century coastal resorts making up the 'Normandy Riviera', where the main towns to see are Deauville, Trouville, Houlberg and Cabourg; laze around in Cabourg for a bit to spend some time in its big wellness centre and spa.
