‘Sous les Pommiers’ is certainly a fitting description for this peaceful site just outside Trévières: the Calvados region is, after all, most well known for its apple products… It’s a mere five minutes’ walk from Camping Onlycamp sous les Pommiers to the village for shops and places to eat, but life on site is all about the greenery and fresh air – pitches are spacious and marked out by hedges. The landscape all around is that of the Cotentin Marshes, and there’s a riding centre next door if you’d prefer to get out on horseback. Aiming a little further afield, it’s a journey of roughly 10 kilometres to get to the coast at Omaha Beach or to hit forest hiking trails, and of course there are plenty of cider farms to keep you refreshed as you tour the area. Back on site, there’s a playground and bouncy castle to keep the kids amused, plus all the kit you need for games of table tennis or pétanque, and a TV room and library for those quieter times. Free wifi, a washing machine and a kitchen area (with fridge, microwave and freezer) are all handy things to have around, and the bathroom facilities have been equally well thought out, with a baby bathtub and changing table available.

喜欢: Hedges around each pitch. Decent size of pitches - all level. Small-scale site, so nothing far away. Friendly welcome. Peace and quiet. Town nearby (walking distance). Easily accessible - no need to go down tiny roads to get there. Very clean bathroom/washing-up facilities. Incredible value for money.

不喜欢: I can’t think of anything to dislike!

喜欢: Super schöner kleiner und gemütlicher Campingplatz. Toiletten sind super sauber brau so wie der ganze Camping Platz. Service ist hervorragend und super freundlich. Schön und friedlich in der Natur gelegen

不喜欢: Leider war der Campingplatz schon für den Winter ausgerichtet

喜欢: The location for our visit was to see the Normandy beaches and Bayeux. The village of Trevieres was quiet and lovely with a very good boulanger selling lovely bread and cakes. There was one small bar in the square.
The site facilties were clean and serviced with plenty of hot water for bathing and dish washing.

不喜欢: The site looked a bit unkempt, hedges needed trimmed, which was started on on our final day. The grass on the pitches needed cutting.
Water taps for topping up on board tank were sparsely placed, there were ample push button water taps dotted around the site but they couldn't take hose for filling.

喜欢: Quiet location short walk into village with facilities (closed mondays though!). Lovely big pitches with hedges and trees. Not unisex facilities, clean with lots of hot water.

喜欢: Location was great, close to the beaches and the local village was nice.
The facilities were cleaned regularly throughout the day and always had toilet paper and soap.

不喜欢: Nothing of a problem for us but the kitchen area and games room that were advertised were nowhere to be found and the snack shack didn’t open at all whilst we were there.
The kids play area looked like it needed some TLC. These things didn’t bother us but could to some people.
We also had some small cockroaches on our pitch which is understandable when camping in nature but keep your windows or tents closed at night!

喜欢: how quiet the campsite was especially after 10pm, the clean shower and toilet facilities and the size of the campsite

不喜欢: Could have been more in terms of childrens play area but fine and yappy dogs, but thankfully we were able to find a pitch well away from them

喜欢: Pitches were good size and each had Heading round it made it more private. The toilet block was well located for everyone. It was perfect location for all the war memorials and the d day landing beaches.
5 minute walk into the little village which also has facts all around from the war . There is a cupple restaurants a shop a bakery and a pharmacy. The owner was nice and very helpful. I would recommend this as a stop off or for a base for exploring

不喜欢: Sadly the park for the kids is very run down and someone was letting there dog poo in there with our lifting it.
No fault of the site but the horse ridding next door was a bit awkward and did not rely seem to be a place for tourists, but maybe if you ring in advance you might get different response .

当地景点

This is a fine area for a break if you like to get out into the fresh air: there are lots of walking trails nearby, plus bike paths a few kilometres away and options for both sea and river fishing in the area. The treetop trails and giant slides at Bayeux Aventure (10 minutes’ drive) give you the chance to see the scenery from a different angle, and there are lots more activities to explore there too (archery, miniature golf and human football games among them). Bayeux itself (20 minutes) merits a visit too, of course – the 70-metre-long Bayeux Tapestry is quite a thing to behold, but it’s far from the only attraction. The cathedral, war cemetery and Battle of Normandy Memorial Museum are also worth a visit, and simply strolling through the streets is rather pleasant as well. The coastline around Omaha Beach has plenty more to explore if you’d like to find out more about the area’s role in World War II – perhaps try out the Arromanches 360 cinema (25 minutes) or the Overlord Museum (10 minutes). There are some good coast walks to be had up here too, but for a family beach day you’re better heading to Deauville or Trouville-sur-Mer (an hour and 15 minutes).
