In the peaceful shade of tall pine trees, about 10 minutes’ walk from the Adriatic Sea, Boutique Camping Santa Marina combines all the elements that make the Istrian peninsula in north-west Croatia such a hotspot for happy holidays. Under 20 minutes’ drive from the old towns of Novigrad and Poreč, the site is tucked away enough to feel like you’ve escaped to a remote part of the coast. But the fun to be had on site means you won’t feel out on a limb. Splashing about on a seaworthy pirate ship and zooming down the waterslides is likely to keep kids busy for most of the day. There’s a nautical-themed playground on dry land too if they want a change of scene. Adults might prefer a few lengths of the pool before settling down for a siesta on the sundeck. In the summer months the free kids’ club has all the entertainments sorted. Or if you want to get the whole family involved you can cook up a feast in the bbq zone then burn off the energy playing table tennis and beach volleyball, joining in a sports tournament, or renting a mountain or electric bike. The site’s small beach is only about 10 minutes’ walk away. Like many of the little coves around Istria, there’s no sand but the shingled bay, rocks to explore and shallow access to the sea make it family friendly. On site all the practicalities are covered with a laundry rooms, bakery, deli, small shop for essentials and large indoor-outdoor restaurant. There are also special children’s and parent and baby washrooms. If you need a pharmacy or other shops it’s a five-minute drive into the town of Tar where there’s also lots more places to eat.

喜欢: The facilities were incredibly new and clean. Hot showers and toilets were immaculate. We ate in the restaurant twice, food was great and prices were reasonable.

喜欢: We toured around Europe for a month with a camper van and this was by by far our favourite site. The facilities are amazing. The cleanliness level is of a very high standard. The pool was really good. We had a meal in the onsite restaurant and that was lovely. Will definitely be back! It's worth taking a short walk to the nearby marina for sunset.

喜欢: The sanitation block was excellent. The pool area lovely, the children there enjoyed the pirate boat.
We didn’t eat in the restaurant or use the bar but they were well used & looked pleasant.
The staff spoken English well.

不喜欢: The prices for both the camping & in the shop were expensive

不喜欢: Ubogie wyposażenie sklepu. Jedno wyjście z ośrodka. Brak baru z alkoholem, możliwość zakupu alkoholu tylko w restauracji. Bardzo słabe animacje dla dzieci i poranny fitness.

喜欢: Struttura dal punto di vista funzionale e igienico impeccabile, i bagni vengono puliti continuamente, forniti di carta igienica, e sapone, lavatoi per i piatti e per la biancheria sempre in ordine e con acqua calda che non è scontata. Lavatrici e asciugatrice, lavatoi per bambini e Phon sempre disponibili in ogni postazione.

不喜欢: Purtroppo nella struttura una sola persona parla italiano, i primi giorni abbiamo avuto difficoltà a comunicare poiché la ragazza non era presente.. inoltre il prezzo indicato non è reale, nel sito è indicato il prezzo di 25/30 € al giorno per piazzola Camper, noi in 2 con il cane abbiamo pagato circa 50 al giorno, cane di 3 kg che non si capisce perché deve pagare... Vabbè. Vi è una navetta che accompagna gli ospiti della struttura al mare, si potrebbe migliorare, molto scomoda. La sera sarebbe gradita un po' di animazione..

喜欢: Ottimo soggiorno da ogni punto di vista. Consiglierei un po' di più animazione anche per gli adulti, non sarebbe male più musica dal vivo/dj set che potrebbero apprezzare anche i bambini.

If all the water fun on site gives the kids a taste for it, you can level up to epic proportions of aqua adventure at Aquapark Istralandia (20 minutes’ drive). The flumes here look more like rollercoasters than water slides and it’s regularly voted one of the best aqua parks in the world. Drive about 40 minutes inland to Pazin Chasm, a huge natural canyon with a castle above and caves below. Wind your way along the waymarked paths or prebook a guide to take you into the underground abyss. You can also zoom across the canyon on zip lines if screaming at the top of your lungs is your thing. For a more sedate day trip, search the boat cruises and fishing trips available along the Istrian coast. Lots launch from Novigrad to the north (15 minutes’ drive) and Poreč to the south (20 minutes) and you could combine them with a wander round these historic port towns.
