What a splendid location for a Vale of Glamorgan break that’s packed with variety – Vishwell Farm Caravan Park is in the little village of Wenvoe and handily placed for rural walks, beach days and city days in nearby Cardiff. Access to all of the above is fairly straightforward: a 20-minute drive will get you into the centre of Cardiff for days of shopping, dining, culture and rugby, to the cute town of Cowbridge for walks and foodie treats, or to Llantwit Major for soaring cliffs and fossil-hunting on the beach. Even closer at a 10-minute drive are the seaside towns of Penarth and Barry, the latter being famed to British TV fans as the setting for Gavin and Stacey. Don’t fancy the drive? The village’s bus stops are only a couple of minutes’ walk away, with services to Cardiff and Barry. Elsewhere in the village are a good local pub and a garden centre that’s got a well-liked café – so you won’t have to go far in search of breakfasts, dinners or local ales either. It’s not all about the location though – the pitches here are well maintained too, set up as part of a peaceful working farm and with access to facilities including toilets, showers, chemical disposal and water. Dogs are welcome to join you on site here too, and there are plenty of great places to take them out for a walk nearby.

喜欢: Lovely quiet site, could choose between hardstanding or grass, electric or non electric. Very convenient and easy disposal points for chemical waste and grey water. The washing up, toilet and shower areas were immaculate. Very large shower rooms with shower, basin and toilet. Didn't need to call at reception on arrival, just park up and text them that you had arrived. 10 minute walk to a bus stop which went into Barry.

喜欢: We only stayed one night, and it rained through the night 🤣 but we had such a lovely stay.
The sore was so beautiful, clean and well kept. Everything was well explained before hand and with young children I felt really safe.

Convenient for Cardiff, but quiet and in some lovely countryside. Pitches were perfectly kept and the facilities were very good. There is even and EV charging point (PodPoint). Easy access in all ways.

Short walk to local village with small shop and pub, dog friendly.
Fire pit allowed if off the ground.

喜欢: We needed to stay somewhere close to Cardiff. The site was ideal close enough to Wenvoe where the Wenvoe Arms provided us with fantastic food, great choice of beer and excellent service. The site was on a farm, small and compact with sufficient hard spaces available. Water and waste areas were close to hand, Toilets and showers were clean and in good working order, also sufficient bins for any rubbish. Plenty of lights at night if you needed to use the toilets. We will definitely stay here again, ideal for us when we need to be in Cardiff early morning 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

不喜欢: Make sure you have a high vis if you’re thinking of walking to and from the pub at night 15mins walk one way.

The best way to explore your immediate surroundings is to head out on foot, taking in trails around Wenvoe Wood or heading off to Dinas Powys to see the ‘salmon leaps’ in the river and stop by at an ancient hill fort. Alternatively, head off to the National Trust’s Dyffryn Gardens (10 minutes’ drive/an hour’s walk) to stroll through a lovely outdoor space set up as a series of ‘outdoor rooms’, or St Fagans National Museum of History (10 minutes’ drive) for a free wander through an excellent open-air museum. You’re not far from the coast here, either, so keen walkers should also plan days out on nearby stretches of the Wales Coast Path. Llantwit Major (20 minutes) makes a good starting point for a walk taking in the sandstone cliffs of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast, or you could head to Ogmore-by-Sea (half an hour) to scramble through the dunes, see the ancient castle or ride horses along the beach. For many visitors, a day at Barry Island (10 minutes) has to be on the cards too – you can join Gavin and Stacey-themed tours here, try out all the rides at the funfair or just go along for sunbathing and swimming from the sandy beach.
