You might have a hard time tearing yourself away from this peaceful countryside site surrounded by green hills and open spaces. At least, that's until you hear that Plas Issa Farm is also only a five-minute drive from the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It may be based on an off-grid working farm, but this adults-only site is well within reach of spectacular North Wales sights… Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is an obvious first choice, with its spectacular stone and cast-iron structure complete with 18 arches; get yourself onboard a narrowboat from Llangollen Wharf. Nearby Llangollen (15 minutes' drive) also has a steam railway and countless adorable cafés. Plas Issa Farm is between the villages of Penycae and Acrefair, a 15-minute drive from Wrexham and Chirk, and within a short drive of the Clwydian Range & Dee Valley National Landscape. There are plenty of walks in the immediate area that guests can get out onto, including a public footpath from the farm itself and the Offa’s Dyke Path around two miles away. Adventures aside, it should be easy to embrace a slower pace on site. Firepits (off-ground or in firebowls) are very welcome – good news for those who want to try stargazing – and there’s plenty of space to unwind around the large paddocks. Well-behaved dogs are welcome; the site has discounted access to secure dog fields nearby. Facilities cover the basics: a water tap, bottled spring water for drinking and, in the farm complex, a portable toilet, cold-water shower and phone charging points (with portable chargers also available for an additional fee). Local pubs and shops are within a 10- to 20-minute walk and a larger supermarket is 10 minutes' drive away.

喜欢 Had a great night camping here! Dean was very welcoming and explained all the areas we could use. He ensures not to over book the site so everyone had a huge area to themselves with great privacy. We will definitely be coming back

喜欢 What a welcome you get upon arrival from Dean....truly a lovely gentleman who took the time to show us around the camping areas. We arrived in our beloved campervan and choose an ideal area to set up for our 3 night stay with wonderful views that look out over the fields. And he made Teddy our furbaby enjoy his stay too. If you are looking for a relaxed and peaceful site and have a furry friend then this is a perfect stopping point. Dean goes above and beyond to help your holiday go smoothly and is near by if you need help with anything......especially when our regulator was broke for our camping stove he managed to find a place a couple of miles up the road for us to collect one and save the day ☺️ We will definitely be coming back here in the near future so see you soon xXx

喜欢 Very friendly owner who was flexible about our arrival time. A very nice view from the camping area and nice and quiet. The loo was well-lit and very clean. The shower was cold but private. At night it was very nice and quiet and there was a very friendly cat who did a great job welcoming us and keeping us company. The area is beautiful with several fun activities nearby. The castle ruins of Dinas Bran are a 20 minute drive away and there are canoe and narrowboat hires going over the pontscyllythe aquaduct 15 minutes away by car. It's also possible to go for beautiful walks right from the campsite itself.

Don’t be too surprised if you keep on returning to Llangollen (15 minutes’ drive). As well as being the departure point for narrowboat rides along the Llangollen Canal, it has a steam railway heritage line and the Plas Newydd Historic House & Gardens, a 14th-century Victorian country house remodelled in the 1930s. Set on a hilltop above Llangollen, Castell Dinas Brân (15 minutes) is another reason to keep returning. The medieval castle has quite the scenery, but first, you’ll need to walk uphill from Llangollen. Treat it as your warm-up for a bigger hike at World’s End (half an hour). Chirk has another stunning aqueduct, the Chirk Aqueduct & Viaduct (15 minutes). Chirk Castle (15 minutes), managed by the National Trust, is also in the area; its 480 acres of working parkland, 13th-century Marcher castle and café should easily occupy you for a morning.
