Gwenfro Valley Wild Camping

喜欢 The location was great. Once down in the valley we felt miles from anywhere, even though Coedpoeth was just a few minutes walk away. Nick the owner was really accommodating, popped down to greet us and say hi. I went for the night with my 12 year old son, who's been desperate to wild camp for ages and this was a great introduction. We were there with one other camper who was in a different part of the valley but wouldn't have known they were there due to the layout offering really secluded private pitches. We set up camp, chilled for a bit, lit the fire and made bacon cheeseburgers...perfect

喜欢 A gem of a place. Tucked away in a valley. Tons of space - 7 acres in fact. Nick the landowner could not have been more helpful. Nice genuine guy. Had a brilliant couple of nights

As the site clearly says this is wild camping so no facilities but perfect for me. Plenty of wood to have fire which is fab

不喜欢 Nothing to dislike. Be prepared to walk down steepish hill with your gear.

喜欢 Owner was very lovely and made sure I was all settled in. campsite was such a nice and secluded spot, even heard owls at dark.

喜欢 As wild as you can get on a campsite. I usually do wild camping and hate official sites, but this wad good in every way. Don't expect the The Hilton, but you will get the red carpet treatment from the owner Nick. He can't do enough to help. Very secluded yet right on the village doorstep for all modern conveniences. 5mins walk, Spar and Asda.
Don't take an attitude. Don't be a princess. Do take common sense. Do chill out. Do take wellies.
The ground is wet, muddy and slippy in places, but then you're in a wild river valley so what do you expect?
All of the tent pitches were out of sight of each other and plenty of woodland for hammocks etc.
One composting toilet that is a challenge to get to. No showers. No electricity. No fresh running water. Take your own water/drinks etc. Fire pits and wood available.
My 10yr old daughter loves the place, especially the stream running through the site.
Great for first time wild campers to try out their kit, families with a wild side and solo travellers trying to stay away from stricter campsites.

不喜欢 The trip to the toilet in the dead of night was a miracle of survival. It's muddy, slippy, across the stream and could do with a door. I'm sure these things are on the list as it's a new venture and the owner is always improving the place. It is wild camping after all.

喜欢 Great location, very secluded and peaceful despite being a 5 min walk from the village, where there were plenty of shops.
Owners were really friendly and helpful and the site was great fun for our two young children to explore.

喜欢 Seen as the Mrs and kids went to Turkey. I decided to take my dog camping along with my friend. The owner of the site Nick, has an amazing site here with amazing scenery, streams, trails. The pitch we chose was next an embankment, with a rocky pool.
Would definetly recommend!

Perfect for first time campers also as there are local amenities and bus routes to Wrexham, Llangollen etc.

And the price, well, a tenner! Will be returning very soon.
