Folk who fancy a few days of fresh air, hotfoot it up to Bunroy Caravan and Camping Park – as you may guess from its location on the banks of the River Spean and its glimpses of the mountains of the Nevis Range beyond, this peaceful nine-acre site is quite the spot for outdoorsy days. Fort William (a place that’s developed a rep as the outdoor capital of the UK) is a 20-minute drive from here, or via a train from Roy Bridge station, a leisurely five-minute saunter from the site. It’s just a short amble too to a couple of pubs for pies and pints. All around here are heaps of Highland activities: get your pulse going with days of hiking, mountain biking, canyoning, climbing, kayaking and the like, or keep things a bit more serene by taking in the gorgeous views from a cable car ride, a train trip or a wildlife-spotting cruise. Facilities on site have been kept low-key to preserve that placid rural vibe, but all the essentials are in place: among them a fast wifi connection, charging point and fridge-freezer. Guests returning damp and mucky from their antics will no doubt be chuffed to see free hot showers, a launderette and a drying room.

喜欢: The owner's were very welcoming and understanding. Area was beautiful and accessible. The owners helped me out as I could not camp another night and quickly they arranged for a pod to be cleaned at night for me and my son to stay in. They offered help to take my tent down which was a lovely gesture. All in all great place to stay and views are stunning. Toilet and shower area very well and we'll payed out.

喜欢: Lovely small site backing onto the river with nice river walks. It is well maintained with good sized level pitches, friendly staff and a toilet/shower block that is on the small side but is clean and maintained very well. The village has two hotels serving meals, drinks etc, which is just a short walk from the site. There is public transport with a train station and bus service.

不喜欢: Very narrow road down to the site.

喜欢: What a beautiful site, maintained to a high standard. Everything is spotless and the site staff are friendly and welcoming.
There is a lot to do and all within a not to great a distance. Local train station within minutes of leaving the site, couple of local pub / restaurants within walking distance. Fort William for shopping can be reached by car, or by public transport, opportunities for mountain walking, plenty of scenery to quiet the mind, wildlife and photography opportunities.

不喜欢: We had no TV signal, but hey, that’s why games and dvds are always handy to fall back on, and people leave the site early, very early, to partake of the local walks etc.

Alfresco activities are within easy reach of Bunroy. Bring your walking boots for excellent hikes taking in mountain vistas and waterfalls in Glen Spean and the Nevis Range, both of which are around 20 minutes away by car, or a little further away around Glen Coe. There are some fab mountain bike trails are here too, and local outdoor centres can sort you out with all sorts of other activities including canyoning, whitewater rafting and paragliding. For something a little more relaxing, there’s a golf course 10 minutes’ drive away or you can bring your kit to fish on the Spean next to the site. If you fancy slowing the pace a little bit, take a seal-spotting boat trip from Fort William or bag a seat on the Jacobite Steam Train to cross the Glenfinnan Viaduct (which may look rather familiar to fans of the Harry Potter films).
