As you'd expect from a site with such a name, there's a whole lot of space in which to relax and explore at 5 Acres, a large grassy site in the Somerset Levels. Kids and dogs are both welcome on site here, and there's plenty of scope for them to run about and play games safely away from barbecues and campfires (which are also permitted to keep you warm and fed in the evenings). Facilities on site include firepits, a toilet and shower block and outdoor sinks with mains water. The surrounding Somerset Levels aren’t just out in the sticks – they also produce them. Willow cane has been cultivated the traditional way in this part of the county for hundreds of years and can be seen growing within a mile of 5 Acres. The Levels are also a wildlife haven, making them an all-round top choice for country walks along the many trails nearby. And while this may be a rural retreat, it's also one that's easy to get to as it's just off the A378 (no winding country lanes to negotiate for this one…) Taunton town centre, with its wide range of shops and supermarkets, is a 15-minute drive away. The closest pub and coffee shop are five minutes away by road.

喜欢: The layout of the site, the friendly welcome, the helpful water / rubbish stations dotted between pitches, the fire pit, the welcome, the loos and showers... All of it!!

喜欢: Really well-maintained level site that still manages to have a laid back and quirky feel. Love the showers & toilets in the imaginatively converted horsebox, huge pitches with fire pits. Friendly owner. Now we need to find an excuse to return.

Showers and toilets a real surprise, probably the best I’ve seen /used.

喜欢: Really large level pitches with every third pitch having water sink plus rubbish bin and recycling bin if you choose to have electric hook up then each pitch has water as well, hosts Theo and Sarah friendly and very welcoming.
Lovely showers very clean toilets in a converted horse box. Should also mention each pitch has its own fire pit so no need to bring your own, also dog friendly.

Nice and quiet , large pitches , loved the idea of a washing basin and bin on each pitch, received a welcome email with exact instructions on what pitch to use and how to set up.

Owner popped over to say hi and see if we had any questions , very helpful throughout our stay

I don't understand why people complain about no WiFi or amusements , they clearly don't offer this , so why complain lol

Great stay and will definitely come back

Hobbit house 微型屋舍

喜欢: Quiet and peaceful campsite in a well-designed field. Liked the individual sinks / rubbish bins, one for each electric pitch, and shared between 2 or 3 for each non-electric pitch. Very friendly and helpful owner. Through the double door and the private, secret, woodland glade to reach the Hobbit Lodge - all well-thought out and comfortable.

First time in the West Country? Get your bearings at the Museum of Somerset (15 minutes' drive), a family-friendly local history exhibit housed in the grand surrounds of Taunton Castle. Other history-infused haunts, like National Trust-managed Barrington Court (20 minutes) and Coleridge's Cottage (40 minutes), are also pretty sure to help you get a feel for the place. Already a maven in all things southwestern? Skip the history lesson and get straight out for rambles in the Quantock Hills (20 minutes). The coast is also within range, whether you opt to head north to the Bristol Channel for swims at Kilve beach (40 minutes) or a trip to Watchet arcade (40 minutes) or south to Lyme Regis (45 minutes) on Dorset's Jurassic Coast. If you're looking to branch out from your common and garden holiday attractions, take a closer look at the traditional willow products on display at Coates English Willow Visitor Centre (10 minutes). More local produce can be inspected (and tasted) at promisingly named Sheppy's House of Cider (15 minutes), a well-established Somerset firm where you can analyse dry, medium and sweet varieties.
