Fancy parking up at a pitch in a gorgeous little glade in the woods? Somewhere small that feels secluded but is actually handily placed for all sorts of Dorset days out? Take your motorhome along to Clouds Hill Glade, in a rural spot 10 minutes’ drive from both Bere Regis and Wareham. There’s very little by way of facilities here, so you’ll need to come along in a motorhome that’s self-contained for facilities and power (there is a septic tank for disposal but you’ll need to use green chemicals only here in order to protect the local environment). In return for bringing along your own facilities you’ll be rewarded with a peaceful place to stay, surrounded by woodland and wildlife and backing onto heathland and more woods for some splendid walks and bike rides. It all feels rather delightfully detached from the rest of the world, but when you do venture out you’re likely to find this location on the edge of the Isle of Purbeck to be rather handy. The National Trust site Clouds Hill is just over the road and the Lawrence of Arabia Memorial a few minutes’ walk away, and it’s a couple of miles to a couple of Dorset’s top attractions in the form of Monkey World and The Tank Museum. Beyond all of that are plenty more ways to fill your days – whether you fancy hitting the Jurassic Coast, taking a ride on the Swanage Railway or coming face to face with the Cerne Abbas Giant, it’s all within a half-hour drive.

喜欢: Very pretty location amongst the trees. The bird song was beautiful, especially the Tawny Owls at night.
We were with friends so it was lovely to sit & have a chat whilst the sun went down.
Very basic but we knew that when we booked

不喜欢: Definitely hard to find because the sign for it at the entrance is tiny.
The waste disposal area needs to be away from the actual camping area & does smell quite a lot at times. Much better if it was fenced off.
Could do with more defined parking areas

不喜欢: Smell of chemical toilet all the time. Pitches were overgrown. Whole place needs tidying up.
Expensive for the state of the place.

喜欢: I chose this site, as it was only one of two sites open at this time of the year and took bookings for one night. At £17 a night it was also the cheapest. Probably space for around 7 motorhomes. There was a tap for water and and a place to dump toilet waste. The owner was quick to respond when we called for an inquiry and was very chilled about what time we left, as there were no others motorhomes booked immediately.

不喜欢: It's next to a busy road, although that did quiet down during the night. I thought it over priced for the lack of amenities. Certainly would not have wanted to pay more than £10, if I had been travelling solo. It is difficult to spot the entrance. We took a left turn onto what appears to have been a milatary base. Instead, just drive a minute further and the barely visable entrance is on your right. It's good that it doesn't attract the attention of passersby though. Definetly find it early in the day before day tripping. That helped when we returned later. Woykd stay here again if wanting to be in the area.

喜欢: Peaceful woodland setting. Well spaced pitches. Great location for walking and cycling

不喜欢: No rubbish disposal. Road noise from busy road. No separate water supply for chemical disposal

喜欢: Wild, great walks directly from the site. No big signs on what you can and can't do. The site catches the morning sun through the trees. Your on your own, just like it should be.

不喜欢: A little shabby, but that is one of the charms of the site. A road close by with very swift cars passing, but not to obtrusive once you get settled in.

The twin attractions of Bovington (five minutes’ drive) are likely to feature on the itinerary for many guests here – stop in at The Tank Museum to see armoured vehicles from across the ages, then have a giggle at the apes’ antics at Monkey World. Similarly, it’s pretty much impossible to resist the draw of the Jurassic Coast when staying in this area. Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove (20 minutes) are perhaps the most famous spots, but there are lots of other lovely corners to seek out, and of course some great walks linking them up on the South West Coast Path. For other days out, take your pick from madcap floating obstacles at Dorset Adventure Park, peaceful strolls at the Blue Pool, clambering over the ruins at Corfe Castle (all 15 minutes) or maybe settling on the beach in Studland or Swanage (both 25 minutes).
