This peaceful little site may take its name from the monarch’s honey wine, but these days it’s the food in the area that’s fit for a king: about 20 minutes' walk from the site is the Half Moon, serving fresh and traditional pub food with side order views over the Culm Valley. Kingsmead Centre is excellent territory too for ramblers, cyclists and equestrians, with free maps for all the nearby trails available on site – a local recommendation is the longer-distance Neroche Herepath. In a wooded vale in the Blackdown Hills (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), Kingsmead also has two coarse fishing lakes which are exclusively reserved for guests’ use, and is home to a wide variety of birds and other wildlife. The shower and toilet facilities are simple and clean, with no shortage of free hot water. Well-behaved pets are welcome on site.

喜欢: The accommodation we stay in was very clean and the site had thought about the little things like milk in the fridge they had put the heating on as there weather was cold the day we arrived.

喜欢: Facilities (toilet, shops), small peaceful campsite, nice woodland setting.

不喜欢: Outside of the campsites control, the road junction to the north, on to Blackdown HI, blind corners fast traffic. The electric pitch we chose had more slope than we wanted but we managed.
Not enough photos on the advertisement of the facilities (toilets), the parking near some of the woodland pitches, we took a gamble and were surprised how good the site was.

喜欢: The relaxed woodland atmosphere, the pitch size, the nice hot showers and ability to empty my chem toilet/also have somewhere to wash dishes.
The half moon pub not too far away did DELICIOUS food.

喜欢: Great location, site is well layed out, with everything within close proximity. Showers/toilets are the best we've ever experienced on a camp site. Shop has food/camping essentials. The Half Moon pub is within walking distance (40 mins) and very welcoming.

不喜欢: Nothing to dislike, although paying for the WiFi was rather longwinded.

On the border of Devon and Somerset, Kingsmead is only a short drive from the motorway, so visitors can easily explore the stunning countryside and attractions of Dartmoor, Exmoor and the Somerset Levels. In half an hour, you can get to historic seaside towns such as Lyme Regis, and start discovering the striking scenery of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast. For more urban pursuits, it’s a 15-minute drive to the county town of Taunton, which has good shopping, eating and nightlife.
