Sitting on the shores of the pretty Duddon Estuary, Estuary View Escapes is a simple but scenic motorhome site that's low in frills but big on views. Located at the old shipping quay known as Millom Pier and surrounded by Cumbrian countryside, the site has far-ranging vistas over ever-changing sands and tides, while turning around opens up views over the hills and fells of the southern Lake District. This laidback site has just a small number of hardstanding pitches for touring vehicles and welcomes couples, families and well-behaved dogs. Barbecues are allowed here, and there are picnic tables down near the water's edge where you can tuck into a scenic meal in the evening. There are few facilities at this small-scale space, but there is a handy chemical disposal point for guests to use. A mile away from site, Millom town centre has a good range of restaurants, food shops, takeaways and bars. Handily, there's also a railway station if you fancy exploring this part of the Cumbrian coastline by train. The nearest pub, The Devonshire, can be reached from base in about 10 to 15 minutes on foot.

喜欢: Louise the owner practically met me at the gate as I arrived and was so welcoming. The communication before even arriving was great.
I’m a solo female traveler and I felt so comfortable, the most beautiful surroundings and perfect, simple set up! Only a max of 5-6 vans, everyone gets there own bench & great set ups. The portaloo was well looked after and the best one I’ve ever seen.
Would definitely return!

喜欢: We got a lovely welcome from Louise and took us to our pitch and gave us a tour of facilities.The Site is in a very quiet location with breathtaking views and stunning walks for our dogs even a picnic bench . The facilities where as described portaloo was immaculately clean and smelt fresh and cleaned daily ,fresh water and grey waste points easy to access and toilet waste waste disposal point.Good 02 signal. Will definitely be back.

喜欢: Absolutely wonderful gem of a Campsite .
The views are unrivalled and the peace and tranquillity made our stay perfect.
Louise is the perfect host and her local knowledge is invaluable.

The history of the area is fascinating and added so much to our walks in the area.

Our prefence for a slightly more isolated pitch with our large dog, was accommodated and we got the impression that nothing was too much trouble for Louise, even offering to bring us ice for our Sundowners !

A Tescos within walking distance, meant we could forget about driving and just enjoy the wonderful and varied walking.

The facilities were everything we needed and nothing we didn't, and as for the portaloo, all I can say is that it was a Palace!

We will definitely return

喜欢: We got a lovely welcome from Louise. The views from the site are amazing and we were very impressed at the facilities provided. The portaloos were quirky,and immaculate, there was water, grey waste and waste bins. Also provided was a picnic bench for each pitch, ideal for eating outside in the glorious weather and looking out over the estuary. It's only a short walk to a beautiful quiet beach.

喜欢: we loved everything about estuary views stunning location and great facilities for the unbelievable price. arrived on site and ran out of gas. louise was incredibly helpful and got us out of a mess we hopefully will get to return again many times.

The surrounding area has lots to keep visitors to this part of the world entertained, from peaceful pursuits like walking and birdwatching to more energetic activities like sailing, paddling and other watersports. Starting locally, you might like to visit Millom's beach, sea wall and interesting lighthouse, all of which are about a mile away from base – and if you like fishing, you can also cast your line straight from the quay. For a change of scene, there's another pleasant beach at Silecroft (15 minutes' drive). Drive for a quarter of an hour inland and you'll reach the Black Combe trailhead, the start of a two-hour walk up one of Cumbria's most impressive mountains. On a sunny day, you can take in 360-degree views from the summit, with vistas that can stretch all the way to the Isle of Man and the Mull of Galloway over the water in Scotland. Estuary View Escapes is well within reach of other Lakeland favourites, including Coniston Water (35 minutes) for watersports and boating as well as the steam heritage line operated by the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway (30 minutes).
