It’s all about properly immersing yourself in nature at West Yorkshire’s Woodsworth Exploring – this is a place that’s been set up within 10 acres of broadleaved woodland, with options to pitch tents in the grassy glades or set up a hammock to hang out in the woods (bring your own or hire one on site – someone will be around to help you set it up properly). Peace and space are in good supply here: numbers are kept deliberately very low to ensure that traditional back-to-nature vibe is preserved for all. There’s tons of scope for woodland adventures too: kids can seek out dens hidden among the trees, or construct their own (be sure to bring wellies). Cars are parked near the site entrance so it’s pretty safe for children to roam free around the woodlands. The pitches are between 100 and 400 metres away from the car park. With this back to basics setup come a few handy amenities, including wheelbarrows to help you carry your gear over the several minutes' walk to the pitches, a drinking water standpipe and flushing toilets and sinks. Dogs are welcome to join you here, and of course you’re able to light campfires for a bit of evening warmth (a small extra charge applies for this). Filling your days with more rural outings should be easy, as there are lots of walks in the area for both experienced hikers and leisure strollers. You can get straight out from the woods onto a public right of way for the 10-mile round trip to Top Withins or the easier mile-long amble to Oakworth station (the set of the Railway Children film). And is all of this in the middle of nowhere? Not at all – it’s a five-minute walk to Oakworth’s small supermarket, and there are pubs and restaurants within 10 minutes’ walk. Bigger Keighley is 10 minutes’ drive away should you need its amenities.

喜欢 Nice quiet woodland, clean flushable toilets, clean drinking water, friendly helpful staff.

不喜欢 The additional cost to have a fire which was daily, this is the only place I have camped in over 40 years that I have had to pay daily to have a fire, very restrictive in what you can do in the woodland, a lot of dead standing trees which makes the site unsafe in high winds ( the staff did say the site is evacuated in high winds )

喜欢 Great for an almost-wild camping experience in a beautifully managed woodland. The host was excellent, greeting me on arrival, and I really liked his focus on preservation and wildlife. He also endeavours to give people as private a pitch as possible which i really appreciated.

不喜欢 The only thing for me was actually out of the owner's control in that the pub could have been closer. The walk wasn't unbearable, taking about 20 mins, but I wouldn't tackle it if you'd been up the hills as I had that day as it's a bit up and down. Like I say though not his fault and pubs aren't to everyone's taste anyway

不喜欢 Woodpecker alarm clock, in all fairness I have not heard a woodpecker in years so it was actually a good thing.

喜欢 Duncan was very knowledgeable and passionate about the conservation efforts in place at Woodsworth and was very accomodating from the get go. The spaces set for pitches were clear and more than suitable for our needs, plus the site is only a short walk away from local amenities (if you forgot a couple of things like we did). Highly recommended to stay, we'll definitely be visiting again.

喜欢 The cleanliness of the site was very impressive. The individual pitches were spacious and well spaced out.
Duncan was extremely knowledgeable on all aspects of his site and the conservation work they are doing is very impressive.

喜欢 The isolation and the closest feeling of wild camping we have experienced yet. The forest is well maintained but appears untouched by man. Once you are in the pitch you feel all alone and wouldn't know that anyone is nearby.
Having young children was made easier with the on site toilets and sink for easier cleaning . 10/10 recommend.
