Ash Keys Caravan Park is a family-friendly site in a quiet corner of a family-run 165-acre farm. This peaceful spot is at the southern end of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, half a mile from the teeny hamlet of Eshton and five minutes’ drive from more extensive amenities (pubs, takeaways and small supermarkets) in Gargrave. This is a most handy spot to settle in for outdoor activities: you can take walks or bike rides directly from the park, join nearby major trails like the Pennine Way (three quarters of a mile from the park), Way of the Roses and National Cycle Network Route 68. The fab attractions around Malham (Malham Cove, Janet’s Foss and Gordale Scar) are about a 15-minute drive away. The well-kept pitches here all have electricity and water hookups, plus access to a shared toilet block, Elsan point and recycling facilities. Dogs are welcome on site, and have been give their own dedicated exercise area where they can have a good run about. Barbecues are also permitted, and perhaps at their finest when graced with good food from one of the two excellent farm shops within a 10-minute drive.

喜欢: Nice quiet site . Pitches have plenty of space in between each other. Not all pitches are flat , but we didn’t find this to be a problem. We will be returning.

不喜欢: Shower block is a little far away and is starting to look tired. Also the toilet is not great in a shed . Amities block would be much nicer . This hasn’t put us off returning. And we do understand this could be exspensive to replace.

喜欢: Lovely setting with lambs in fields and nice views. Large pitches, with ample space between.

不喜欢: Showers were a good walk down the drive away. Water connection for pitch was between the large pitches so a longer hose was required.

喜欢: Rural surroundings were great, basic site but with ample amenities and toilets were clean, didn’t use showers as we preferred to use our own but they looked clean, site looked to be under some additional development but we heard no noise or work over our break. Pitches were well spaced but did feel a little bit unfinished. Great location local village not far away with pubs, Indian restaurant, fish and chip shop and a very well stocked Coop.

不喜欢: Not a dislike as such but narrow lane leading to site was narrow but luckily nothing coming the other way on arrival or departure.

喜欢: Beautiful site, very well maintained, brilliant location. Our third visit did not disappointment, we will be back again next spring! Loved all the extra info in the Check in Hut, especially the walkers cards to borrow. A lovely little stash of books to loan too. The doggy dryer was a brilliant touch.

喜欢: Good and easy road access into the site by following the provided instructions. A very useful visitors guide was provided in advance of our stay. Lovely large level pitches with EHU, water, waste, bike stand and TV aerial. TV reception using our caravan aerial was absolutely fine, so didn't need to use the external one provided. Great free wifi. Great location for exploring the local area. Lovely views. Couple of toilets and chemical empty points in the centre along with information hut. Will happily return here again.

喜欢: Lovely location, 5 minutes from Gargrave, 10 minutes from Skipton, 2 x showers decent size and nice hot water and good pressure, Wi-Fi very good and streamed some tv on the iPads, tv aerial hookups provided but our caravan aerial did the trick. Lots of wildlife including rabbits, curlews, owls on a nighttime, saw deers in the stream on our little 2mile circular dog walk on an evening. Overall a great week away with family.

喜欢: The site was very well kept, so quiet and on a night was so dark meaning the nights sky looked amazing. The pitches are a good size and far enough apart to have your privacy. Loved the toilets in a shed

If you’re not planning lengthy rambles on the long-distance paths, set forth for some of the local highlights instead. Get going in Gargrave (five minutes’ drive) with a waterside walk by the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, then see cascades in action at Linton Falls (20 minutes). Make time for Malham too: a 15-minute drive gets you over to this fab village and its trio of top sights (Malham Cove, Janet’s Foss and Gordale Scar). After that, take an uphill challenge on the mountain paths of Pen-y-Ghent (35 minutes) or head underground to see what’s in store at Ingleborough Cave (40 minutes). Other ways to get about? Perhaps with a day of horse riding from Kilnsey or a rather more laidback trip on the Settle-Carlisle Railway – both are about 20 minutes’ drive away. And if you’ve got tiddlers who’d benefit from staying in one place for a while, there’s plenty to keep them amused among the animals, tractor tours and play areas of Hesketh Farm Park (20 minutes).
