Thornton Hall Country Park

喜欢 Right next to Thorton Hall, for the kids.
Facilities were basic but fine for our needs.
Milkshake place down the road was great.
Close enough to pubs and shops

不喜欢 Pitches were quite tight and close together.

Not much to do on site for the kids and no shade from the sun. Could do with some shadey spots, trees, perhaps some play equipment.

Facilities needed a bit more maintenance/up keep (topping up soap, repair to loo roll dispenser etc), holes in ground on pitches.

Generally ok for a couple of nights away though

喜欢 The staff were very nice especially Paul the night warden.

不喜欢 Pitch 14 had 2 large gravel tracks that forced us to move the tent a lot further forward, the ground was very uneven. Only 3 toilets and 2 showers for a large site was obviously not even and over the weekend queues would form. Lots of noise after 8 and to be honest I think it’s too early. Kids and adults walking under are tent and kids just dumping bikes all over.

喜欢 The area and the site was lovely and well kept.

不喜欢 Lack of toilet and shower facilities. Very limited for the amount of pitches.
Also had a very noisy camper in pitch 10. Singing and talking very loudly til 5am Saturday.

喜欢 The view. The quietness. Big pitches. All very tidy in appearance.

不喜欢 The showers and toilets were like the kind you see when builders are converting a property and sit a portaloo outside. Tiny and no way of dressing after a shower without wetting your clothes. Clean so it was fine. £6 for WiFi seemed excessive after the plot fee.

喜欢 The place was lovely. It was very clean, it had maintenance on the site all the time. All the staff were lovely and helpful. Was a lot of open space for the kids to play. The farm on site was lovely and plenty to do for all my boys ages 2,6 and 13. The food was also lovely in the play area. Would definitely return.

不喜欢 My only down side was the price of the farm and play area. As it is literally where you camp and when you have a very challenging 6 year old that wants to go play in the play area and on the outdoor park all the time it’s hard to explain that yes the park is right there but you have to pay for the farm to go play on it. We did pay twice to go on the farm but once we went back to the tent after the farm closed my child was still wanting to play on the outdoor park which wasn’t accessible and had signs stating you’d be asked to leave if anyone was seen on it. I know it’s not a major issue at all, it just would be lovely if the outdoor park was accessible until later on and open especially on the light summer nights.
