For rollercoasters and roams alike, head off on a hol to Springfields Countryside Caravan and Camping, a 3.5-acre site with a large open field for playing in off a peaceful lane with hilly views. It’s less than a 20-minute drive to the rides at Alton Towers, 15 minutes to the city of Stoke-on-Trent and 200 metres from the main road… but the spectacular Staffordshire Moorlands surrounds mean you wouldn’t have a clue that it's all so close by. Tear yourself away from the vistas and ponder eats: they’re varied in the local area, with pubs and restaurants as well as Indian and Chinese takeaways five minutes away by car. In charge of cooking? The supermarkets of Cheadle are your spots to stock up less than a 10-minute drive up the road. Once you’ve got your meals sorted, you could be skirting the edges of the glorious Peak District National Park in half an hour, ready to roam around traditional market towns like Buxton Spa. Other typically English things to do in this area include perusing the pottery at the popular Wedgewood Museum at World of Wedgewood (15 minutes’ drive) and Gladstone Pottery Museum (10 minutes) or riding the working steam Foxfield Light Railway and the Churnet Valley Railway (10 and 15 minutes away). Alternatively, you can make like you’re in Milan by having a gander at the Italian-style Trentham Gardens about 20 minutes down the road. As is fitting for such a countryside setting, barbecues and campfires are permitted on site, and there's a washing-up area to aid with the cleanup mission. Also on site are toilets and showers revamped for the 2020 season.

喜欢: Everything. There were so many little touches all over. A herb garden for guest use, fridge freezer and microwave to use in the wash up area. The toilets and showers were kept clean and tidy
The pitch we had was huge, very private.
A well lit walkway to the WC’s using PIR lighting so didn’t keep you awake.
The warden’s were fantastic. So informative and friendly, you can clearly see they love their jobs and take pride in it.

喜欢: Fantastic weekend, can’t fault the site, nice and clean facilities, family friendly good pitch sizes little play park for small kids staff are lovely, there was a food van on site when we stayed one night it was pizza another night it was curry we tried both and it was lovely food! Would definitely come back to this site.

喜欢: Welcoming, friendly vibe. Hosts where fantastic. Amenities very clean and plenty of them. Pizza friday was a brilliant treat. Se stayed in the rabbit warren tent and it was brilliant, had everything you needed. Would 100% recommend and will certainly be back! Thank you!

不喜欢: Only small criticism was the ground was uneven under the tents ground sheet. Not a massive problem though

喜欢: Really enjoyed out stay here. The quirky surroundings of the long wild grass and flowers that separate the pitches. The views of the rolling fields and watching the sunset overthem. Ample pitch sizes. Nice hot showers. And of course, sharron and Dave. Extremely lovely couple. Very accomatading with us when we asked to extend our visit by 2 days. Very friendly and chatty. Had a lovely pizza van arrive on site on Friday night. Prosecco on ice brought down to our tent for our special occasion. They lent us wind breakers when the wind picked up. Very helpful,Very accomadating, lovely couple, lovely site. Defonately recommended.

Caravans and motorhomes should always approach the site from the A521 Draycott Road, turning into Breach Lane, where you will find the site 200 metres down the lane. Approaching from the A522 is not recommended as it involves driving along a mile of narrow single-track road and a difficult turn into the site entrance.

Whether you’re up for browsing the racks, meeting monkeys or taking on treetop adventures, Trentham Estate (20 minutes’ drive) is the place to go: this one-stop complex set around an old manor house has a shopping village, apes and a rope-based expedition course through the forest. Rather watch the horses or bike racing than rush about in the woods? Uttoxeter Racecourse is 20 minutes away from Springfields Countryside Caravan and Camping, while the Darley Moor Motor Cycle Road Race Club is reachable in half an hour. For calmer times, the stunning Dove Dale Stepping Stones and Thorpe Cloud – a limestone hill with views out over the Midland plain – are 20 minutes from the park for riverside and mountain walks. Or maybe try a bit of fishing? Blake Hall Fisheries (10 minutes' drive) sells day tickets for its three well-stocked lakes.
