Coming to the Costa Dorada for some chilled-out beach time? You’ve hit the jackpot at Kampaoh Costa Dorada, a stylish glamping site with direct access to the beach in Creixell. The tents here are tucked away among swaying palm trees, giving the place a cool tropical vibe – and with the added bonus of knowing that you’ll not have to spend any of your holiday time getting your tent set up. Whichever of the smart accommodation units you choose, you’ll be moving into a furnished tent where the beds, bed linen and towels are provided, along with outdoor seating where you can flop down and soak up the alfresco ambience. Being able to wander straight out onto the beach is another fabulous bonus, of course – especially as it’s a lovely long stretch of sand here. Spending the day on the beach isn’t the only option, though – the site also has a cool lagoon-style pool, a tennis court, a pétanque court, a multisports court and various organised activities for kids, teens and adults. Bikes can be hired on site, and staff can help you organise things like scuba diving and watersports days. There are plenty of options for getting out and about as well – perhaps visiting some more of the local beaches, taking in the historic attractions of Tarragona or a day of family fun at PortAventura World. When it’s time for dinner, you can eat at the bar-restaurant on site, choose a local restaurant or pick up bits from the site’s mini market and have a picnic at your pitch.

One beach not enough for you? There are plenty more nearby that are worth some of your time – perhaps Punta d’en Guineu (10 minutes’ drive), which has watersports rentals, Tamarit (15 minutes), where the beach sits in the shadow of the castle, or Cala Fonda (25 minutes), where you'll walk through a pine forest to reach the golden sands. If it's time for a break from the beach, you may like to get up into the trees at Jungle Trek adventure park (15 minutes), hit the waterslides of Aquopolis Costa Daurada - La Pineda Salou (half an hour) or explore the various themed areas of PortAventura World (25 minutes). If you don't have kids to amuse, a trip to Vermouth Padró & Co (half an hour) might appeal instead. A day of history should certainly be on the schedule too, with a trip to the lovely city of Tarragona (20 minutes), home to several Roman sites. If that’s whetted your appetite for more, head also to Vila Romana dels Munts (15 minutes) and Ciutadella Ibèrica de Calafell (20 minutes).
