There’s music in the air at Camping des Sources – owner Gégé is a pro guitar whizz who’s stepped away from the bright stage lights and now fills his place with toe-tapping weekly gypsy jazz gigs, jam sessions for passing musos and guitar lessons for those who’ve been inspired to give it a go.
But the strumming is far from the only activity on offer at this lovely Luberon site, five minutes’ drive from the pretty village of Gordes. In high season there’s a busy programme of activities for young and old, including nipper-friendly antics, sightseeing tours and aqua gym classes.
Further calorie burning can be achieved at the fitness area, with a game of something on the multisports pitch or some lengths of the 25-metre outdoor pool – followed by a well-earned flop in a poolside deckchair, of course (while the small sorts continue splashing in the paddling pool). Fancied something a little gentler? Perhaps a game of miniature golf or pétanque – or simply wandering over to the bar-restaurant to plonk down on the terrace and get stuck into the selection of wines available by the glass (best try a few in the interests of fairness, n’est-çe-pas?)
There’s heaps to keep you busy in the surrounds, too – bring your comfy shoes or bikes for hikes and rides through the lavender fields and olive groves, taking in villages, markets and gorgeous landscapes (punctuated by plenty of opportunities to eat and drink along the way – cheers to that).

Lokala sevärdheter
Get your bearings by joining fellow guests on a sightseeing tour through the Luberon villages, and then head out at your own pace on trails that can be easily accessed from the site. It’s a three-hour round trip from the site to the 12th-century Senanque Abbey, or a five-hour hike to and from the gorges around La Véroncle. Maps for these and bike rides are available on site.
The nearby village of Gordes, five minutes’ drive from site, is worth a wander – visit the ancient village of traditional stone bories before delving beneath the streets to take in the underground halls and stairways of the Palais St Firmin. If you’d like to see where your tipple originated, there are a couple of wineries around the village too.
For a bit more big-city life, it’ll take you around 50 minutes to drive to Avignon with its museums and UNESCO-listed collection of medieval and renaissance buildings (and its handy tourist train for the weary of foot).
