Grafton Holiday Park

Fish on the Clarence River a kilometre from the site: it runs for 394 kilometres so you'll have plenty of angling spots to pick from on a New South Wales tour. Several old buildings including Christ Church Cathedral and Grafton Gaol, one of the National Trust properties in the town, can be seen at local settlement Grafton. The Grafton Heritage Trail highlights 25 historic sites around the town, and the Grafton tale is told in the Schaeffer House museum, the esteemed HQ of the Clarence River Historical Society. Vintage tractors and farm machinery are at the outdoor Squatters Rest Private Museum 20 kilometres from Grafton Holiday Park, where you can also tuck into lunch or dinner prepped in the 19th-century cookhouse. To the east of Tacubia, the coastal spread of Yuraygir National Park between Yamba and Coffs Harbour is the spot for beach basking (48 in total), and shoreline hikes along the 40-kilometre Yuraygir coastal walk. Activities at three other national parks are within driving distance: canoeing at Nymboida (35 kilometres), swimming and forest biking at Chaelundi (40 kilometres) and wilderness hikes and birdwatching at Washpool (60 kilometres), part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area. A couple of dozen major towns are round the Northern Rivers area, including Ballina and its Richmond river, the world-famed surfing spot of Byron Bay, and the remote Tweed Volcano valley settlement of Murwillumbah, familiar to some Brit viewers as the oft-gruesome setting of I'm A Celebrity...
