If you’re something of a wildlife fan or indeed just fancy somewhere peaceful and adults-only to bed down in Cotswolds countryside, Crofts Barn, a 20-minute drive from the market town of Banbury, in Oxfordshire, may be the spot for you. Life on site is quiet enough for you to hear the birds singing and the crickets chirping – and on summer evenings, you may well hear badgers grunting in the fading light. Deer, muntjac, squirrels and rabbits often put in an appearance too. And that’s before you take the livestock into account: in neighbouring fields, you can often watch the antics of the horses and cheeky goats. Access to the pitches (which are neatly mowed areas on a ridge-and-furrow meadow) is through a digitally locked gate, so you can be sure of a high level of security. Solar lights illuminate the short walk to the toilet/shower block, so you don’t have to look for a torch in the middle of the night if you need the loo. There’s a village shop in Tysoe (five minutes’ drive), which should have pretty much everything you need on the foodie front – and there’s a pub if you fancy a crafty pint. Since guests are not permitted on site, you’ll want to meet family and friends in the local coffee shops and pubs in the area. Want to get out and about exploring the Cotswolds by car, on foot or by bike? Or are you content to sit and chill on site? At Crofts Barn, you have the chance to do either one – or a bit of both…

Tyckte om Quiet, beautiful views, clean and pleasant facilities. The owners are really friendly and helpful and both nights I was there they set up the fire pit and either lit it for us (night 1) or allowed us to light it when we were ready (night 2). Will definitely go again

Tyckte om Really clean toilets and shower and a nice view. We enjoyed seeing the horse and goats in the next field too. Welcoming host and a simple and easy check in and out process. Quiet campsite and a good location for a day out.

Tyckte inte om Only 2 toilets for the whole site that have showers in them too so if you're desperate for the loo and both cubicles in use.....Could do with a couple of individual toilets.

Good security provided by an electric gate at the entrance.

Tyckte inte om We arrived at 8:30pm and were subject to a £10 late check-in fee. We completely understand this in scenarios when there is a person waiting on site and their wage needs paying; however, the check-in was remote and all we needed to do was text to say we had arrived, so I think this was quite unjustified. It is the first time we have encountered this and we stay on campsites most weekends, and comes on top of it being one of the most expensive sites we have stayed on.
One of the two toilets had no soap in it for the 3 night duration of our stay

Från föreståndaren: Thank you for your feedback. While the check-in was remote, we pride ourselves on our customer service, and we do try to personally meet guests when possible to welcome them, point out facilities, and share local recommendations. The late check-in fee was applied as I needed to follow up at 8pm without prior confirmation of your late arrival — it’s discretionary and used when additional co-ordination is required after our last checkin at 19.00 hrs. As we live on site I was unable to finish work until my last guest had checked in. The toilet soap dispenser was found to be faulty but did contain soap — I would have rectified this immediately had I been informed. Also, as your stay was a buisness expense, price comparisons with leisure sites may not be directly relevant.

Owner was lovely and very helpful farm was immaculately kept 👌🏼

The toilets and showers were spotlessly clean,Enjoyed that you had the whole unit to yourself Shower,Toilet and basin lots of hot water and nice shower cubicle.The stand we were on was nice and level and neat a lovely place to stay if you like being a bit off grid

Tyckte om We loved our stay at Crofts Barn! Such a scenic area with wonderful dog walks from the site. Easy to check in with great communication and clear instructions - we were met shortly after arriving by our host who was super helpful and informative. The facilities are immaculate and we loved meeting the cute goats and listening to the Tawny Owls at dusk. We will certainly be back for another visit and have already told our friends about this great little find!

If you’d rather watch someone else do the hard work, get dressed up for horse racing at Cheltenham (an hour) and Warwick (half an hour), or book tickets well ahead of time for motor-racing at Silverstone Circuit (45 minutes).
